i am 18.

i am an eagle scout

i have a working knowledge in computer building, service and support, woodworking, construction, electrical, auto/mechanical, and welding.

i'm hoping to get 10-15 dollars an hour. i have some prior work experience with data entry, and 2 potential references. (both of them liked me)

so where could i get a job that might encompass some of those skills? i'm looking for any type of job, so long as it's not sitting at a keyboard for 8 hours a day again. and so long as it's not plumbing :p.

any bright ideas? think FRYS might take me?

Colleges usually have plenty of student jobs, although they often don't pay very well. Try waiting tables or something.

Grab a local newspaper. Go to classifieds. Grab a phone book. Look in sections relating to computers.

Fax or mail a resume to every company that you find any intrest in. If you are worth it, someone is likely to bite.

If you are looking for a retail job... forget that 10-15 unless you work in the repairs department, in which case they might require some certification, as those companies don't like insurance risks.

Let's do the math :)

College computer lab - full of college chicks. Some would be very appreciative of your help.
Frys - Mixture of everyone of every age. College chick opportunities reduced.

Seriously, just apply for the jobs you want. Check classifieds and see if there is anything that matches your previous work experience/interests that you are willing to do.

You could get a job ata strip club as a Pole Cleaner.
But, you have to supply your own rubber gloves and steel wool.

One thing i've learned about all my programming 'experience' is that simply knowing the programming languages from taking classes and playing around with it doesn't mean sh!t to a company. Most hiring positions will only take you if you've had actual experience in applying these skills in a real world setting. The same goes with electrical engineering also. Those classes mean nothing compared to what you face on the job.
