seeing as how i'm sitting in central nc with 10-12" of snow (that's like 4 feet for most people) i'd say i'd like to live somewhere warm, where it never, ever snows.

I would live on a small wooded island in the tropical Pacific, with a mountain, and minimal large predatory animals. There I would never have to look at a human face or hear another human voice ever again. That's my second choice. My first choice would be somewhere in the mountains in an American state like Tennessee or somewhere where there are seasons, but winter isn't too bad. The problem with that is that invariably people show up wanting to build a bunch of houses and make it just like the city they left, and generally make a mess of things. But on my island I would be truly alone and I wouldn't have to put up with people at all. It would be different and a bit of a shock at first, but I believe that I would adjust very quickly and it would be a good life.

The people and places in Portland have a really 'walk in the park'ish atmosphere to it. Its by the Coast. It has the largest mall in Oregon. There are parks everywhere. They got the famous tram system that goes thoughout downtown portland and its vicinity. (aka. you can easily get around on foot) They got 2 colleges in the area, the rose park. Any city with a majority of brick streets/sidewalks is a plus in my book. There are trees everywhere. The tech community is there but aren't as flashy as dot-com San Fran or as hidden/non-existant as in Florida. The area is completely flat. They have a good reputation when it comes to education. They aren't awaiting 'the big one' like California (earthquake) and Washington (volcano). I made an online photo journal of the city too (I don't want to post the URL for privacy reasons). I can go on and on.

If I'm gonna raise a family, it sure in hell ain't gonna be in Florida.
