Where were you on 9-11?

I was in the school library for social studies when we heard the news over the announcements. It was 7th grade.
 
8th grade science class. Teacher got a call on her cell, so she turned on the TV and we watched it until lunch. Then during lunch, rumor went around that the towers had actually collasped and I didn't believe it. Wasn't until I got home and saw it on the news/internet that I believed it.
 
I was in grade 10, asleep.

My dad walked into my room and said 'That fucker Osama hit the twin towers'.. went to school and sat in the auditorium all day watching CNN.
 
MY senior year in High School, was in my "problem solving" math class...easiest class ever...anyways, it was roughly 10:30 (don't quote me on that) and very few people in the school had any idea what was going on...definetly not the students. One of the teachers aides came in and quietly said to my teacher "The towers are gone." He replied "What do you mean GONE?" "They collapsed..."

Now I'm in the front of the class, and I heard every word, and still wasn't sure what they meant...but i knew it was something important. Normally we can't touch the computers during class, but I asked and he reluctantly let me...I went to CNN.com and was just totally floored by what I saw. The towers were gone, and the weirdest feeling came over me. I've never felt this way before in my life, but I tend to relapse into it every year on this occasion...I have never felt so furious and sad at the same time...I felt so strongly for those people who were killed, and so angry that someone had done this to us. I nearly got into my car and drove to NYC (I lived in midwestern massachusetts at the time), but by the time I had reached that decision, I was hearing reports from the RedCross and local authorities that there were too many volunteers...they didn't know what else to do with the people that came to help...I didn't want to be in the way. Ever since that day, I've had numerous reminders of the attacks. Between news reports, video/audio i've found online, and even very personal stories from friends. A friend's brother who was at ground zero from minute number one pretty much recently died, and that just broke my heart.

I'll never forget how I felt on 9/11/01, and I hope that this is a day that people can put aside differences and just remember the ones who are lost, and the ones who have lived on without their loved ones.
 
Navy Annex up the hill from the same side of the Pentagon that got hit. (How it missed my building I will never know.) I was there getting my final physical to get out of the USMC.

17, i think i was in my english class. but we all just listened to radio for the rest of the day.

my friends actually went to play pool that day, which i thought was a bit cold.

I still remember 9/11 as if it were yesterday....

Driving to work, listening to Bob and Tom...thought it was a joke....was no joke.

Remember the original name of the retaliation was Operation Infinite Justice?

Did you get out of the Marines that day or did you stay in a bit longer?
 
I got out about a month later. Being stationed as a low ranking enlisted Marine in the DC area was a bit different than every other base I was told, not the typical Marine Corps. I really disliked all of the civilians that I worked with and new even if I reupped I would stay in that same area and was looking forward to getting out. The USMC was the one branch that did not invoke stop loss.
 
I was in bed sleeping. My dad woke me up and said a plane hit the towers. I'm like ok and went back to sleep. Then he came back a second time and said another plane hit. That's when I got up and watched everything. My dad was getting ready to go to work and the building was across the street from the towers.
 
first year of grad school in los angeles, everyone was at high alert since all the planes were apparently headed to l.a, i was sleeping when my dad called and told me about the first plane, turned on the tv and saw the 2nd plane hit the towers live,
 
I had just gotten home around 7am from working all through the night rewiring a network rack. I walked in (was living with my parents at the time) and my mom told me two planes had hit the World Trade Center.
"Thats an attack", I said.
"You think so?", she gasped.
"One plane might be an accident. Two? Nope.. thats an attack."

After that I went to bed & caught the later stories when I woke up around noon.
 
i was junior in high school at that time. i was in a class and my teacher received a phone call from her husband saying we had to watch tv somewhere. the class was canceled and we went to library to watch tv. the whole schools in district were canceled after before lunch.

it was horrible as i watched the 2nd plane crashing into south tower on live. it was quite a tragedy.

I was driving to work, listening to Howard, when someone (Stuttering John, I think) came in to tell them there was smoke coming out of one of the WTC buildings.
 
Today was the 6th anniversary of 9/11 and I didn't even realize it till now when I took a peak at the "Latest Headlines" in FF. How many other people had just completely forgotten, is that bad?
 
i was listening to the news and getting ready for work when the first one hit. i heard about the second one when i got to work. it was still just an accident when i left the house, they didnt know it was an attack at that point.
 
In 2001, I was working in downtown Manhattan, in fact, I walked through the WTC every morning at around 8:45am on my way to my office (first plane hit around 8:50am). On 9/10, I remember buying some clothes from the Gap in the mall in the WTC basement because I had slipped and fell and needed some new pants before I went to work. On 9/11, I was at home, I had taken the day off because I had a dental appt in the morning and a doctor's appt in the afternoon.
 
Outside washing my car. My mom went outside and told me in a fobby vietnamese voice, somebody flew some planes into the WTC. I was confused until I went inside and looked at the tv, at which point it was WTF on overdrive
 
I was working for JOURNEY that day. It was the last show of the 2001 summer tour.
I was also working for NIGHT RANGER, since they were opening the show.
N.Y.State Fair Grandstand show with Journey, Peter Frampton and Night Ranger.

I will never forget the ride into the gig that day.

It wasn't clear if anyone would actually play for several hours, although we went ahead and set up anyway.

If I recall correctly we had to wait for police clearance,as we were at the NY State Fair, there was great concern for public safety.

That ride across country was 4 days I'll not soon forget either. Since all air traffic was grounded, we were forced to continue to rent the buses and hire additional drivers so that we could get home.

That was, co-incidentally, my last gig working for JOURNEY as a tech.
