In class, watching the tube with the rest of our school.

It was a slow and almost surreal day.

In class, it was some home room or advisory period, I hardly remember what they called it. Basically, we goofed off and had announcements for half an hour at the start of every day. The school had the TVs rigged to come on whenever they wanted, so they could turn on Channel 1 all at once, and they turned it on to the news. I was one of the first to notice what was happening, and I knew something was very bad, but I really had no idea what the WTC was, or why it was so important, only that it was in NYC and had been mentioned here and there in my "educational career." Anyway, one by one the kids in the room looked at the TV and just stared. The second plane hit while I was walking to another class, so I didn't see that, but I still remember what I did see. But, by the end of the day I was already tired of it, the news hadn't said anything new or useful in hours, it was the same endless repeating of footage and less than enlightening commentary.

Sleeping at the time. I didn't even know until i got to work at about 10am PST (my start time in the call center i was working in). My coworkers told me and they had a TV brought into the office.

We didn't get that many calls that day.

as it happened, I was sleeping.

Most people on the west coast would probably were or just getting up.

I didn't know about it till I went to school, people were talking about it.

Didn't have a TV in the lab. Professor brought in a radio though.

classes ended up all being cancelled for the day.

I started work on a late-morning shift west coast so I was right in the middle of my wonderful, wonderful sleep when a friend called and was all non-challant (sp?) about it. He's like "hey dude, turn on the TV. We're under attack" and I really couldn't give a crap and didn't really understand what he was saying. I went back to sleep. When I got in to work about 10am, the almost entire call center that decided to come to work that day was huddled around the TV's in the cafeteria. My friend and I walked across the street and bought batteries and a portable radio to listen to the news in our quad-cubicle. Not a single call came into the call center that day. I just sat at my desk reading news online and watching the chaos on these forums.

In school at DeVry. Hahah, I try to forget that I went to Devry. I also try to forget that this country can be convinced to castrate itself because a few thousand people died. Try to guess which is more effective...

Sophomore year.

I woke up at 6:00am PDT for weight training. I saw the second plane hit. I was glued to the TV till I seriously had to leave. No one said much during the class, but maybe almost an hour into class we started tuning to the radio and no one did anything. I can't believe we listened to talk radio for a freaking hour before someone had the right mind to change it to the news.

It was block day so I had my crappier classes that day and I went online during the next class to check all the news sites. We didn't have TV hooked up well in our school back then so we couldnt see jack. They announced over the PA during morning announcements with an update, but I could never understand what they meant by "collapsed" because I could only imagine the top of the WTC falling off and it didn't make sense why teh rest of the building fell. Some people told me it fell into the sea.

I couldn't get legitimate coverage until 3pm that day when I went home to watch the news. Instead of hearing rumors left and right and inaccurate reporting from the few people who could go online in school, it was good to finally see footage and the actual press conferences and what not.

I remember IRC went wild. Some channels forbid talk about "trades" so if you said want to trade Windows 98SE for XP you would get banned. Well the irony was that everyone said World Trade Center and got banned like mad.

I was in 6th grade. I distinctly remember walking to my "home room" and my friend telling me about what happened and how he heard it on the radio.
I told him he was stupid and that he was kidding, but my teacher told the class about it. That is all

I was 17 at the time and living in Hawaii. I remember my Mom running into my room very early in the morning, waking me up and turning my TV on. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on that screen and the image has been burned into my mind ever since.

I was roasting coffee and we had a 13" tele in the drive-thru, I watched it unfold on that tiny television.
