Had the day off, so I was sleeping in. My girlfriend called from work and said there was something going on in NYC and I should turn on the tv. I didn't jump out of bed- I just shuffled downstairs thinking that somebody was sniping at pedestrians in Times Square.

Turned on the tv just moments before the second tower was hit. It was strangely quiet outside...hardly any traffic and no birds chirping. Just quiet- I'll never forget that.

9/11 I was getting ready for work and turned the TV on to watch some news. The first tower had been hit and was on fire, the second tower was hit while we were watching. News of the Pentagon came over the radio as I was on my way to work.

I was in high school, grade 10. Was in a morning class and someone said a plane crashed into a building and some people died, but it was very basic. It was like not a huge deal, but bad. I pictured maybe a Cesna or something crashing through a couple office windows, minor damage to the building, and that was the end of it.

Throughout the day people talked about it more. I realized it was much more serious. Any access to TVs or radio etc was forbidden. Teachers did not want it to distract from work. Smartphones and other mobile devices were not really the big thing then, so overall we did not have much access to find out more. So the day went on. I remember being in autocad class in the afternoon designing buildings and all I could think of is wanting to know more info on what was going on, everyone just knew there was more to it, and it was much bigger.

Finally I got home, turned on the news and saw what was really going on. Our church even had an "emergency prayer meeting service" that night which we went to. For almost a month straight that's really all I did, was watch news channels to see the developments such as the war starting.

i was asleep when the towers collapsed. i woke up, checked ICQ, dismissed what i thought was some BS spam message about praying for those affected by terrorism. then i fired up a browser and right there on my excite home page was the news that the towers had collapsed. at that point my shouting and running into the living room woke up my roommate. i sat watching peter jennings and company for the next day or so.

I was at my home in Wanaque, NJ when I got the call and turned on the tv set. Needless to say, I did not have to go into work that day and our op center moved to a temporary spot in Newark where we reported 2 days later. Worked for Verizon, by 1 Police Plaza in NYC. We stayed in Newark about 1 month before we were able to go back into NYC. Since we are essential services, we had easy access past checkpoints and no tolls for the bridges and tunnels. Just showed our Verizon ID to get past.

On my way to the train, which had a clear view of the towers, about 1.5 miles away when the first one hit. I went to work and when I came out at 42nd st. the second one hit. I was working at BMG at the time and went to the top floor (46th ST) and saw the first tower fall. I then grabbed all my shit and walked all the way downtown to get my son from school.

I was working at a law office. We turned on the TV and for the next hour were glued to it. Finally the owner told everyone to go home and hug our loved ones. Damn I miss working for that guy sometimes.

I was in college on my way to eat. I passed the TV in the commons area and just glanced at it. No one was around and I thought it was just some movie or something. Can out after eating and a bunch of people were sitting around watching it.

I had to leave to go to class. About 15 minutes into class they cancelled all classes for the day
