Where were you before you were conceived?

I was spread amongst the genetic information of my parents and before that, an ever increasing percentage of humanity. If it were possible to pluck the individual genes from their custodians and arrange them as they are within me, I wonder how many generations early I might have been made before the mutations that reside in my genes made it impossible to replicate me exactly. Food for thought.
 
Is this another stream of consciousness thread?

I knew somebody who insisted that, if reincarnation exists, she wanted to come back as the second dog in a two dog family.
