where to start a rothIRA acct?

I've been wanting to start one and now that finals are finally out of the way, I think I have some time to think about it.

Are there any particular big names I should consider? I have my 401k with Fidelity, so I'm leaning towards them. I'm not sure how good they are compared to the other options. One other thing I know is that Fidelity does not charge a fee for maintaining your accout, which is nice.

Any suggestions on where I should start my acct?

Also any place that suggestions what funds to invest in depending on age, investment time-horizon, etc?

Yesssss, start a retirement acct over AIM. Sweet.

Fidelity is good. I have a rollover IRA with them from my last job. Zero complaints.

everybody offers the same rothIRA. it's a government program. but if you're looking for a break on taxes NOW, don't do a roth. Do a traditional.

what really matters is the investment you put under the IRA.

been reading around different places, doesn't look like there are much difference between place A or place B. The main difference is how diverse the funds each place is offering and the other thing is whether they charge you a fee for mainting the acct.

fjorner: my understanding was, if you're young, you start a rothIRA acct. whereas if you'reolder you start with a traditional IRA.


Any suggestions on where I can get more information on what mutual funds fits me the best? in terms of I'm 25yrs. old, plan to invest my money for x amount of time, etc.

Just go with Roth IRA but first read this thread

im 22yrs old and also recently started a Roth IRA. I used Vanguard I heard alot of good things about them, i think their the best

scottrade, since you don't have to pay to buy mutual funds there.

Thanks Rossman .. I've been slowly going through the thread and it's been helpful, I think I'll just stick with fidelity and then for the mutual funds ... gotta do some more reading =)
