Where to position temperature sensor...?

I have a temperature monitor thing that fits in a normal drive bay, and it has 2 wires that I can place anywhere in my case and it will display the temperatures on the two screens.... Where would be the best place to position the wire in order to get the most accurate temperature reading of the CPU? Should I put it in-between the heatsink and the CPU shim? I don't think I should place it directly between the core and the heatsink cause that would probably not be a good thing... Any ideas?

I would put it right next to the die, hold it with some good tape or a tiny bit of glue, but I wouldn't be using a shim either way. Definitely not on the die, that would be bad ;)

The second one I would place either on a hard drive for hard drive heat monitoring, or just hanging in a central area of the case to get the case temp...

I totally agree w/ ThisIsMatt, definately do not place it between the HS and core as the only thing that should be between the core and HS is AS or the thermal pad, AS being the prefered method from what I've read here on the boards :)

And why not place the other one either under your Graphics card HSF or right next to it if it's too difficult to get off
