I would really like to get one soon, but every place seems to be charging an arm and a leg for one?

Anybody know where to get one cheap like SVC had.

Wow, it just kinda vanished! I didn't know the SK7 was out of stock so many places. It has apparently been discontinued. :Q

Sidewinder Computers seems to have the lowest price, and their shipping is fair, not jacked up. They're also an excellent company to deal with.

Why'd they kill off the SK-7 and AX-7?! Now there are practically no good choices for a $20 heatsink.

Thanks for the link beatle.

And yes Cerb, the choices are becoming slim for effective cheap cooling.

It just doens't make sense that you would have to spend as much on a heatsink as a cpu (1700+)

Hopefully with their new heatsinks coming out like the SP-94, the SLK800 will drop in price. Oh, speaking of the AX7, Sidewinder Computers has it for only $15.95 :Q:cool:

To clear up what I'm guessing is just bad wording :) you can use 60mm fan OR 74mm fans like the TMD on a SLK-700. Some have said they have a 80mm on it but er no idea how they're securing them on since I'd presume the supplied wire clips wont fit.

;) Yes you are correct... my apologies... i just assumed not a lot of people use a 60mm fan nowadays... :)

mmm... maybe I'll get an ax7.

Not sure if it will cool a 1700 to 2.2 speeds with an L1A though.

Dug, depending on the chip, how much voltage you have to use, and how much case ventilation you have, it might work. The AX7 is still a pretty competent heatsink, within 1-2C of the SK7. They're likely about equal when low flow fans are used.

...just that the AX-7 is also discontinuted. And when low flow fans are used, the AX-7 beats the SLK-800...IMO, that's more than competent :p.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I wonder how the AX7 fares against my Alpha 8045. The 8045 was able to beat my SK7 by about 2-3C using a low flow fan.

Never seen a really low flow comparion, though the AX-7 beats it in high airflow, and...here's the link

When I get my new case finished, I do plan to run that low if I can, BTW. Even if not, it'll make me feel good when summer comes around and I have everything underfanned and undervolted.

...however, the SK-7 is hardly a bad heatsink...and I can't imagine they were selling anywhere near as many SLK-700s...esp. when it won't even take an 80mm fan!
