Where to get RT2561st chipset for wireless card?

Hi all,
I recently moved and now I don't have the luxery of a wired connection to my desktop PC. I need to use wireless which is fine, but I have Ubuntu at the same time. I've had bad experiences trying to get my cards to work in the past due to 'somewhat supported' cards. However, I worked through them and typically got atleast WEP or WPA working. I'm now at a stage where I really don't have the time to dedicate sifting through the net and forums on wireless cards the way I used to.

That said, is there a site that can guarantee the (RT2561st) chipset? This one seems to work universally fine with Linux distros (well...atleast Ubuntu lol). Newegg's cards (I'm looking at the recent EdiMax) don't necessarily guarantee the chipset, and it really depends on the batches that come in. I'm fine paying an extra 5-10 bucks to positively get the card I need.
Is there a site that can guarantee wireless cards by chipset, or should I order http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833315041 and hope that I get the chip set I'm looking for?

Thanks

Lol, Guarantee? Even the manufacturers do not Guarantee it and in most cases do not publicly provide the info.

Some of them change the chipset in the same Model that they are selling for years.

In any case the Edimax card that you link to RT2561st) is should have drivers for Linux.

Yeah I know, hence my problem. Even once I ordered three wireless cards, and each had a different chipset which makes it a total PITA to get things done if public drivers aren't released.

I guess I'll take my chances and see what happens, thanks Jack for providing me advice, even though you work at MS 😉

I do not work for Microsoft; I am making a living as a Neurobehavioral Specialist.

MVP is an award that Microsoft gives to people for variety of the reasons, one of them is to people who extensively help other people in computer related issues through the Internet.

P.S. While everyone in the world is maring mistakes and should try Not to, it is time for many to stop the automatic useless dissing of Microsoft. If people would use the dissing energy to do something productive it might be a better world.
