NO! They don't taste the same and you run the risk of upsetting your GF.

Marmite is definitely an acquired taste for non-Brits like myself, but can be extremely satisfying when you're extremely hungry and haven't had much dairy lately. That's when the B vitamins inherent in brewer's yeast (the basis of Marmite) hit the spot.

The same was true for me in my (American) strict non-dairy veggie days with nutritiional yeast (a "new age" variant of brewers yeast).

Your taste buds say YUM for what your body needs/craves.
