Where to get lenses made besides lens crafters?

Never needed glasses myself, but my SO just bought some new frames online and needs prescription lenses to go in them. I don't know where to go, but for some reason she's weary of lens crafters.. They're the only place I've heard of that does lenses but wtf do I know, I don't have glasses..

where do you get your lenses crafted?

Just go to Costco - their prices blow everyone else out of the water, they can make almost any type of lens and you'll never know the difference. I know it sounds weird, but between buying the frame and having Costco make the lenses, my current pair of glasses ended up being about $250 less than DOC retail.

Should have bought from Zenni Optical instead.

Never used them myself, but I have heard LOTS of good things about Zenni Optical.

Four vision impaired folks in my household agree.
I hear customer service isn't so great, but I haven't needed it in the four orders I've made.

well that looks nothing at all like what she wanted.

her words exactly: "Those are ugly"

edit she only paid 15$ for the frames she wanted.

Most Wal-Mart stores have INDEPENDENT Optical shops inside.

Chain vision stores will be about 20-40% more.

Costco. I paid about $275 for my thinned, high index, non-reflective Nikon (I think) lenses at the place down the street; now out of business, wonder why. They are slightly thinner than the $80 ones I use to get at my old optical store. My lenses are twice the price of my frames right now. If you have no local, cheap place, go to Costco or Wal-mart and get the cheapest shit you can find.

It's hearing stuff like this that makes me happy for having good vision insurance 🙂

But as others have said, go Costco if you can. My aunt did and they were pretty cheap.
