Where can i get Iraqi currency? Bills, coins, whatever. Any suggestions are very much welcome. Also, what's the deal with their exchange rates? There is a fixed exchange rate of 1 USD for 3 ID (Iraqi Dinar), and yet you can get 2000 IDs for 1USD on the black market? How does that work?

At this moment, is there an official exchange rate for Iraqi currency? Just asking because I don't know, although I would doubt it.

If you wait a couple of weeks you might be able to pick up a few million or their currency for $.25 US.

So, you are going to fly to Turkey, sneak accross the border, buy a bunch of Dinar, sneak back to Turkey and the come back here to a currency exchange?

Good luck not getting your throat cut when you buy Dinar...

No, banks stopped accepting Iraqi currency back in 1990 i believe. So it's useless.

Any money changer stuck with Iraqi currency would just love to unload it on ya.

EDIT: They're all over ebay. Search for Dinar.

eBay is the key. The reason the fixed rate doesn't matter is that the Iraqi Dinar was issued by a bank of a regime that's no longer in power. The assumption is that it will be worthless and the new regime will set up a national bank and issue currency.

They sell it at Walmart under the brand names of Penzoil, Mobil, Castrol, and a few others. Price varies by brand.
