Where to get Iphone replacement parts.

My wife has a 4s and needs a new battery and back glass. I just read that genuine Apple parts are only available through a certified repair center which I don't want to use since its such a old iPhone. Getting parts off Amazon or EBay gets confusing to determine what is crap and what is decent.

eBay or ifixit.com. Ifixit is more expensive than eBay but they have a great site so I tend to buy from there.

Where it gets confusing is the batteries easily range from $5 - $25 but all look the same. The ifixit battery is $25 which isn't that bad as long as isn't the same as the $5 batteries just marked up.

Amazon, ebay.

Don't go to iFixit. Their markups are ridiculous.

Screw it I just ordered a battery and back glass from Ebay. Both sellers had over 99.5% ratings with a specialty in these products. She will likely get a new Iphone when the 6's come out anyway and this one will be sold.

I was going to suggest getting the back glass from Apple. Every replacement back I bought off ebay never felt quite right. Apple only charges $29 for the back replacement and I spent more than that trying to find a good replacement from a seller.

They fit fine, they just didn't "feel" right to me. Like the glass used wasn't the same or something. Even parts labeled as OEM. The last one I bought felt good but caused my pictures to be out of focus (and yes, I removed the film from the lens).

I was probably being overly picky about it though.
