Where to find a database of past average temperatures?

For my econ class we have built a forecasting model where I predict the average consumption of natural gas for a particular state (in my case Idaho). The next part of the case is to find some sort of data that will make the model more accurate. I want to find a database that contains the monthly average temperatures for Idaho (or perhaps a city within) from 1986 to 2007. I've searched and searched to no avail. Any help would surely be appreciated, thanks!

Just make the temperatures up and claim that you work for the UN. Should work.
