Where to eat at before prom?

The prom is right around the corner, and my girlfriend told me to surprise her about where we go to dinner that night before the prom. Can you guys give any suggestions? I don't want to go too cheap, but not too expensive, either.

Maybe something like this place... here.

My friends and I didn't plan our prom too well. We were supposed to get reservations at some classy restaurants but leave it up to your friend to blow it for everyone. We ended up eating at Denny's and needless to say, it wasn't a very fun experience.

Do you have Cheesecake Factory in your area? They're okay.

It all depends on your personal tastes. For example, I heartily do NOT recommend taking her to Koi Palace, unless you like your "Duck's Foot Soup" to actually have real duck feet floating in it.

The problem is, at the restaurant link I posted, I don't know what the hell half of the stuff on the menu is! 🙂

advocate, lmao, for some reason that cracked me up.
Take her to *hit by frying pan* Golden Corral!

That place is the local equivalent of where I took my prom date. Most of the stuff on that meny is steak and seafood, but if you are unsure of something, just ask your server and they would be more than happy to explain some of the finer details.

I don't think I would take her someplace any less swank than that, or you might risk pissing off the GF. Proms are a big deal for the ladies.

Ok - being quite the gastronome and soon-to-be former fatass, the menu looks outstanding.

That looks like a pretty safe bet for dinner, as there is plenty of good stuff on the menu.

May I suggest eating at the "Y" !

[max slaps himself with a large trout 'cuz of his own silly sophmoric humor]

seriously, that looks like a great place to eat. but have you or anyone else been there before? just because it looks pricey doesn't mean that it'll be any good. One thing I learned, eat dinner before you put on that tux! (unless a group of you rent out a private section of a restaurant) I didn't spill anything but she did and she was pissed for most of the night.

prom night hint for Raleigh, NC kids - 42nd street oyster bar & grill is horrible now!!! go to Vespa's in Chapel Hill, or someplace else. you'll thank me later...

That restaurant looks pretty nice... And, chances are she's just gonna have a salad anyway (how long have you been dating?) 🙂

Anyway, I never understood food before prom myself, I typically skipped it. Don't like to dance with a full tummy.

They have some nice stuff, although I don't like steak so much.

Bonny Doon Muscat, Canelli, Half Bottle $29.00 - I think I had that wine before. Jeez, that's expensive. 🙂

SESAME SEARED TUNA SASHIMI
Served with fresh greens tossed in a ginger-soy dressing with fresh tomato slices. $8.95
SPICY TUNA TEMPURA
Premium grade Ahi tuna rolled with scallions, fresh peppers and sticky rice. Served with vinegard soy and wasabi sauce.

sounds good to me... 😉

As I said, I am not too much into steak.

Great, NOW I AM HUNGRY!!!!

I guess it is time to start planning prom, isn't it. I didn't go last year, but all my friends rented a limo and ate at texas land and cattle (i think...). I'm going this year, and I kind of hope they don't get a limo, because I will be paying part of it, and I don't really want to pay for that, considering that whoever I go with will probably be a one time thing. ugh..... oh well.
