i will not get the XT version because it is too expensive and i don't usually get the number 1 card anyways.

since R420 is a real next generation card, so ...

so... when is the pro coming out? May 5th on the shelf?

With the computer in your sig, you would not allow the card to spread its wings. You are much better off getting a whole new system + Radeon 9700Pro or 5900xt something. Remember a balanced gaming rig needs a decent speed cpu and more ram than 384mb.

Goodness I didnt even see those spec !!!
Ya what RussianSensation said getting any version of one of these new cards wouldnt be a good idea.

It would be like getting 5 thousand dollars worth of race rims and tires on a Chevette. Sure it would handle alittle better but the whole machine is hindering the performance.
You can get a good board, chip and memory for under $300. Id go that route first, youd get more overall performance keeping what card you have and going this way.

1 - X800XT 16 pipes best card for $500 <- single slot design 1 power
2 - 6800 GT 16 Pipes best card for $400 <- single slot design 1 power
3 - 6800 Pro 12 pipes best card for $300 <- single slot design 1 power

although Geforce 6800 ultra Extreme may be faster then the X800XT so Nvidia may still have the 3 fields won !

According to extremetech it has beat it on those that were incredebly close. Who cares tho, itll be too much money (unless they change pricing around) and 1/2 of these cards are so damn close anyways.

You could get one of these cards and it wont be a waste IF you build ur new system around the same time. Either build ur system to ur card or get a card to fit ur system.

I just bought my X800 Pro yesterday overnighted it and its here. I will begin testing and let you know the outcome. 🙂

You can get it from Compusa. We do stuff with there distributor and they had like 350 in stock but not at the stores yet. So me and a friend ordered them direct from distributor with 18 dollars overnight shipping. Allstarshop.com has them also in stock for shipping. Good luck. 🙂
