buy.com offers a 20 dolalr replacement plan on their video cards. will that cover overclocking damage? althought there should be none if done right.

The only way it wouldn't cover it is if you took the stock fan and heatsinks off it or did any other kind of mod to it. But I wouldn't rely on a warranty if you are going to overclock. Don't overclock if you can't risk losing a perfectly functional and FAST $300 card! The TI500 is fast as it is. Like I said, if you can't afford losing a $300 card, DON'T OVERCLOCK IT! Just be happy with your <$285 card.
