I will usually do some hopping on NewEgg and buy most of my stuff on Amazon. Free Prime shipping beats out NewEgg every time and their customer service is just as good as the Egg's if not better. I only buy elsewhere when I can't find it at Amazon for a decent price.
The entire rig in my sig except for my watercooling tubing came from Amazon.
For my latest build I bought most of the parts from microcenter. I also bought my PS and memory from newegg. The PS went on a shell shocker sale the same day it arrived. I was able to get a $30 NE gift card that I them used to upgrade to faster memory then I was planing to buy when it was back in stock.
I have also got good deals on hard drives and other non-core(CPU, mobo, RAM, etc.) components from B&H Photo. All top shelf retailers with good return policies and customer service.
I was leaning towards amazon for a time because their deals were really good but lately im leaning back towards newegg because they ship to me faster than amazon and some of their deals on certain things are better lately
My first build was over 15 years ago and I got everything at Newegg. I think I may still have that system, running Windows 2000. I used it a lot the last 2 months because the more recent build went down with a blown PSU (replaced over the weekend).
I'm rebuilding those two systems shortly, will shop components. I sometimes look at ebay, but usually find better prices at Amazon and who would you rather trust?
I've bought from Tigerdirect, B&H too. It all depends on who has the better deal. I don't have Prime, but rarely pay Amazon shipping, just make sure my order's over $35. If it's not much below $35, I have gone to Filler Item to find something hopefully useful to get me there.
I build at Newegg, then plug the part names into Google and find where they are the cheapest.
However, if the prices are close to Amazon or Newegg but from some unknown or barely known place, I'll still buy off Amazon or Newegg because I know if there is an issue I'll have no problems.
