Where to buy the mobo?

I'm about to get the Asus A8N-e. Both NewEgg and ZipoZoom have it for about teh same price, but ZipZoom has free second day.

Haven't ordered from Zipzoom before. How are they on returns? Customer Service?

I've ordered once from NewEgg and the item came with no problems, but haven't returned anything to them either.

any comments on your experiences?

The motherboard is the foundation of everything else and therefore, you've asked an escellent question. I quite often buy from both those sources, but never motherboards. Why?

Well, because here's a scenario for you. A mommaboard maker puts out a great board and it sells ok and then some reviewer here at anandthingy gets ahold of it and writes a sparkling review. Next thing you know, they gotta sub out the work to keep up with orders and even at their own shop, to a degree, quality goes out the window. That's why motherboard and RAM reviews are of limited value and even on video cars as well. What you need is NOT a 24/7 call center with dodoheads answering the phone. what you need is some poor old, fat and enthuiastic guy who's cursed with loving some extremely intensive programming like IL-2/FB/PF. This guy tests not just models, but lots and can tell you what's the best flavor of the week foir sure. You'll spend like $10.00 more buying from him, but when you go to set up the new motherboard, you can call him and he'll be able to answer your questions because he's done it himself! Of course, you will have to call between 9-5PM Eatern U.S time, but if he's on the other line, he'll call you right back. Call him or e-mail Joe at...

What I'm thinking is maybe since these are high volume retailers and they should have updated bios (bioses?) for all their mobos, for example, and the latest firmwares.

Would the Egg be more hassle-free than ZZFly (or vice cersa) in case issues arise with the mobo?

Hot Deals is your friend..............Egg has free shipping right now........😉

Not for the A8N-E. $4.95 shipping.

Sorry...looked again, apparently it starts the 17th...........

At any rate, both are good...........ZZF can be a PITA on returns sometimes but no big deal..........

Every motherboard I've ever ordered from Newegg has had a reasonably updated BIOS, not always the absolute newest, but usually a lot newer than the original BIOS. Not sure whether this is NewEgg or just that they shift inventory quickly enough to get new ones from the motherboard makers.

Can't say the same for sure about ZZF, but I can say that I've never had a complaint and I've been shopping there since it was Googlegear. Worst thing they ever did was send me a cd burner when I ordered a sound card, but I called, they apologized, told me to keep the burner, and overnighted me the sound card.

Can't say a negative thing about either company.

ZZF is a good company, ordered many parts with them INCLUDING an A8N-E. 🙂
It came with the latest BIOS (at the time 1008 I think).

I've ordered from both but never had any problems with anything I've ordered from ZZF so I cannot comment on their return policy but Newegg is great. I ordered an AGP video card but while it was in route I decided to upgrade my mobo and the new mobo is PCIe. I got an RMA with no restocking fee. I ordered my new mobo the minute it came in stock (MSI Neo4 Platinum) for $118. Two hours later the mobo was at $113. I did the online chat thing and got the $5 refunded. It seems that if your request is within reason they will bend over backwards to make you happy. Also, almost all of my orders (or the ones I can remember anyways) have always shipped the same day I placed the order before noon newegg's time. I did pay the rush order fee on my last order becuase I simply could not wait and needed it to ship that day. ZZF on the other hand has always taken one day to process the order and then ship the item the following day. They make no bones about the fact that their policy is 1-2 days shipping time but come on. In the end it just depends on what you need and when you need it. So don't think that just because the item says 2 Day Free shipping with ZZF you will actually get it in 2 days.

Chiefvalue == Newegg.

Newegg's customer service and return policy is great. They may not always have the lowest prices though. ZZF's free 2nd day is awesome.

go newegg.

i don't know what the whole discussion on latest bios matters here. with asus update, bios flashes are easy as pie.

I order mb's, video cards and CPU's from NE. They've never given me a problem and always keep me abreast of what's happening with my order.

i hear that! i'm in CA and when i need a big ticket item, sometimes i go through monarch because of the state tax thing.

I'd love to use Monarch! They are great and one of the few vendors that will honestly tell you what you get for buying the fancy RAM vs. something more value priced. Problem is, I'm stuck here with a banjo on my knee playing the...

I gotta pay State tax blues!

I gotta pay State tax blues!

recently i priced out about $1500 in high end parts, both with newegg and monarch (no tax for me at monarch)
it turned out that it was actually a few bucks cheaper to buy from newegg, even with tax and more expensive shipping. monarch's prices are a tad higher on everything. the only items i usually buy from monarch are processors since theyr'e about the same price as egg. (i usually buy the x2 3800's)
