Where to buy packaging for Hitachi hard drive?

Hitachi has some requirements, like IBM, when sending their hard drives in for an RMA. They offer someone online who will send you the packaging, for $16.95 shipped. I'm not going to pay that, especially when there has to be someone around here who has the packaging. Here are some things that are deemed acceptable by Hitachi:

Acceptable Packaging

Does anyone know where I can buy a GeoSprings kit? Or foam similar to that shown in the pictures? I know I should be able to find it cheaper than $16.95 shipped.

TIA,

pOwder

You might try Staples or a UPS/Mailboxes etc. store.

While I understand their concerns, I don't see why several thick layers of heavy bubble wrap around the drive plus packing peanuts wouldn't be acceptable. Hell, that's how Newegg ships OEM Hitachi drives. 🙂

I've shipped several WD drives back for RMA this way and never had a problem.

i got the first one.. i can give u for the cost of usps going to you... will be like 4-5 bucks instead of 15..

i can send u like 2-3 sets of that instead of just one.. i order drives quiet often

Still looking for one of these... my RMA expired and I registered for a new one, especially since my warranty expires in March. If anyone has any pacakging like this, including anti-static bags, I'd really appreciate it. I'll pay for the shipping and a little more for your trouble. Just looking for anything under $16.95 Maybe $10 shipped?

I PM'd SuperNaruto, but I'm still looking, thanks!

That is why I always do an advanced RMA and then just send it back in the new HD's packaging.

There is a link to places that sell the packaging materials on their web site. You just have to look around for it.
