I know that Dell and Gateway offer Linux configured PCs, but I don't like their setup (and price). Anyone know of a plcae that specializes in Linux based PCs. BTW this is not for me, but for my Lab and we'd be buying somewhere between 10-20 of them.

Go to a mom & pop shop and have them assemble computers with parts that you specify. They'll be cheaper than Dell or Gateway and you can do the installation of Linux on them to your liking (they'll be identical, so you can just image one partition across all the clients).

Hint: Get well known brand name parts or look at the Linux HOWTO document on hardware compatibility. Matrox makes some nice drivers in addition to ATI, Nvidia and 3dfx. For sound, the SBLive is supported in addition to all the rest of the sound blaster family, natively. I haven't tried to run Linux on any VIA chipsets but I heard there are some issues with the Apollo Pro and KX133/KT133. You might want to stick with Intel.

These machines are for developers working for a national labolatory....hence support is very important (more important than price). Dell and Gateway pricing for government agencies is rediculously high, thats why i wanted to find another place(s) that sells preassambled, Linux ready machines with full service support. If we could care less about warranties, etc, i'd build and configure them them myself, but being a developer i have other more important things to deal with. As far as hardware goes, i know exactly what i want since i've built several linux systems for my friends and co-workers.

ASAComputers (believe it or not) is putting
together some nice packages lately.

The other place that does good work and is
not insanely overprices ( I won't mention Penguin
or VALinux ), is TESYS. It's sometimes tricky to
get an order right, but they can do just about
anything, and the prices are fair.

SYS http://www.sys.com/ has been putting together
nice systems as well. Their configurator is dead
simple to work with, and they are pretty quick.
Don't know if they'll give you RedHat.
