Hey all,

I am looking to get a roaming international sim card for a nokia phone I am taking overseas on a short trip, and I would like to get one at a brick and mortar cause I don't have too many days before I leave and dont want to pay $20 for 3 day shipping.

Has anyone bought an intl sim in stores in the US? I haven't ever seen any for sale, but I am hoping I just haven't seen them heh

thanks!

Where are you going? Who is your provider now?

You can usually activate international roaming on your sim if you are already a customer.

Unfortunately, for a handful of different reasons this is not an option for this trip. I managed to dig up an old Nokia and am hoping to just pop in a new intl sim card. I will be in England as well as Israel.

I think it would be better to just buy a sim when you are in each location. Unless you are trying to call back to the states, then I think you need to go into an AT&T or T-Mobile store and ask them what you can do.

regardless of where you are calling, buying a sim at your destination will be cheaper. make sure your nokia is unlocked.

edit: there are vending machines at heathrow airport, before you exit. pop in your credit card and out pops a pre-paid sim card. you can add value to it at most convenience stores

+1

Options are:
a) Activate international roam on your current sim - your current number works OS but you'll soon discover that international roaming charges are usurious for incoming as well as outgoing calls

b) Buy a prepaid sim when you arrive in each different country - much, much cheaper but of course you get a new local number and your friends can't reach you by dialing your home sim telephone number - although with a local data plan, a SIP enabled smartphone and strong googlevoice-fu you just might be able to figure something out.
