Where to buy fuses? (Other than Radio Shack or Home Depot)

The fuse in the link in my last post is rated for 4A 250 volts. It also has a size of 5 x 20 which should be the same size as the 4A 125V fuse that you said fit.
Do you have a link to that fuse?

Can't find that fuse on the website, but its just a 4A 125V Slowblow glass fuse. The logitech sub says use only the same type of fuse...

Have you been to your local computer store? I know they used to have "unusual" fuses. I know it was a pain to find a 1/2 amp 110V Fuse once. And the only place I could find one was at a computer store.
I would use what was in there. If you go to a higher fuse it would not "fix" the problem you are having. It would just make it unsafe. There has to be a reason why that fuse blew.

How did you manage to blow the fuse? Did you not have it plugged into a surge protector?

It was blown through a static shock. For some reason when the metal leg of my chair hits the metal frame of my bed, theres a static pop and the lights go on and off. I assume this transfers to my metal radiator frame, which transfers to the heatsink on the sub which is in pretty close proximity to the radiator. I don't know why, or how the hell this happens. I have everything on a surge protector, plugged into grounded sockets. I dont need a detailed explanation as to why it happened. I dont really care why it happened. All I know is I'm not going to touch my chair leg to my bed anymore.

I am not an electrician or an engineer. I dont know whether you can exchange different types of fuses, I dont know any of the terminology, all I know is I want my speakers to work. What came in the sub was a 4A 250V Slow Blow 5x20mm glass fuse. Thats all I know.

I don't know if you can use ceramic fuses, I dont know what a time delay fuse is, or a buss fuse, all I really want to know is what fuse to get to make my sub work again.

Sorry if I'm a little bitchy, but all I ask for is some assurance that yes, if you buy this specific fuse, it will work again. If you have any lying around, Ill pay you for them.

Slow blow fuses were very commom on all stereo equiptment a while back and are still used today.


Try a dedicated Stereo retailer or servicer. Lots of stereo stores in NY

Sigh. Still cant find them. Every one of those links has the 1-1/4x1/4, but I need 5x20mm. None of them have it in the right size with the right amperage and voltage. I've looked everywhere!

As was said before - DON'T worry about the voltage. That rating is just telling you that the fuse packaging can handle up to 125V or 250V. The fuse will still blown when it's supposed to. Older cars used the glass tube type and they all said 125V or 250V - do you think your car has 250V running through it?

You can pick up minifuses (5mm x 20mm) at ANY local electronics supply store. (Real store, not Radio Shack) However, I even picked up some 6.3-amp slow-blow minifuses at radio shack the other day.

Half the people tell me not to worry about the voltage. The other half say dont use less voltage than it says. Sigh.

If I get a 4A 125V 5x20mm fuse, will I be fine?

You'll be fine with those. The absolute worst that could happen - you blow those fuses and waste $3.

Yes. If you want to call around to some local electronic shops, it's called a GMC fuse. (5mm x 20mm, slow blow) A 5mm x 20mm fast blow fuse is called a GMA fuse.

What about the ceramic fuses? Should I even bother?

If you can find one, ceramic would work but there really is no need. They are usually used in microwave ovens and similar devices when you need shielding from microwaves and stuff.

Yep. They dont have 5x20mm 4A slow blow. Only 1 and 10A.

Got the 125V fuses today. The first 3 blew the instant I popped them in.

The 4th one doesnt even blow, but it certainly doesnt work. Is it just time to RMA it now?

Actually, looking at the 125V fuses, theyre marked 250V on the fuse itself.

When I popped the first one in, I saw a bright blue spark as it blew. It seems like it blew less spectacularly every time I put the next one in. The one I have now is still perfectly fine, but it wont power up.

Anyone know how long it takes to RMA these things?
