Digikey has an awesome selection of products but for orders less then $25 they tack on a $5 handling charge. For small orders I usually go with Jameco or radioshak B&M. If you don't wind up ordering from digikey this time, request a copy of their catalog anyway, sooner or later you'll use them.
Shipping will kill you on small orders more than any added fee.
I would check to see what your universities chapter for IEEE or HKN(though technically part of IEEE now) have for sale as well if you won't be ordering in huge quantities.
When I was in school, we had a well-stocked EE stores on the second floor of Everitt Lab. Don't all EE schools have something similar?
Since leaving school, I order from Mouser or Newark or Digikey. If it's for work, we have a system set up with corporate discounts in place to buy this stuff.
