Where To Buy A Silicon Wafer ?

I want a 300mm silicon wafer, reckon I walk to an Intel fab and ask ?

Any ideas how to get one (seen some on ebay but I want a 300mm one)
 
Good luck with that. I seriously doubt that AMD made too many of said keyrings, even though they are extrenely cool. Also, silicon wafers are like brittle glass. You may want to think twice before making your own ring.
 
Id just love a 300 mm wayer on display on my desk.

AMD said they didnt sell those keyrings, I think they were a special run for the topping off of FAB 36 to the press.
 
Yeah, wafers are both expensive and hard to find. I would have been shocked if they were just handing out those keyrings. I'll bet that the A64 design team and the fab team got those and that's it.

I could always break into FAB 30 wearing a batman suit and rob a wafer or two.
 
i doubt those IC chip wafers would be anywhere near as fun/sweet/cool as a cpu wafer. i remember seeing those things in school. haha

Hmm.

Perhaps it's time to replace the Win 95 CD (in jewel case with COA) that I've been using as a coaster for the past 25 years.

No they are not, they function EXACTLY the same.

When you use a CD as a coaster you set your drink on and it protects the your desktop from moisture

When a Silicon wafer is used as a coaster you place your drink on it and it protects the desk from moisture.

Just because you misuse them does not make them the same thing.

I'm sure the technology exists to take one of those 4 inch wafers and add some type of soft backing to it possibly using some stuff I read about on Wikipedia called "Glue". I see no reason why it would not be functionally equivalent to my Win 95 CD.
