I've only got a Best Buy near me, so I might have to shop there if there are no 'zero dead pixel' policy online retailers but I'm not sure if they have anything worthwhile. Any suggestions on good monitor dealers? All the models I see in store are completely different from those suggested here.

Edit: I forgot, I also have a circuit city.

Locally is definitly best policy but thier problem is crap selection and usually they only carry the "value" series of the various makers, not the high end. I bought 10 monitors locally, from frys and CC, took them all back and got lucky with mail order first time. Weird huh?

Best Buy carries the NEC GX2 line (including the 20WMGX2), at least on their website. You may able to buy one of those online and return it at a store if you get a bad one.

I think you'd be pretty safe with newegg or ZZF. Personally, this dead pixel fuss is a little ridiculous to me. Honestly, if you LOOK REALLY HARD for dead pixels, you will probably find them in darn near any monitor you get. I have the VX924 (Viewsonic), beautiful picture, great colors, fast response, and as far as i can tell, no dead pixels, but then again, I've never run any "dead pixel hunting programs" either. I've also never put my nose to the screen and looked that hard, so who knows. I say pick up a monitor that suits you and don't worry about it.

Yeah, you're probably right. I need 2 of the monitors today so I'll probably just have to choose from what my local best buy / circuit city have, local area code 77840. That's why I was trying to find info on that particular model so fast. They both have them in stock and they're a decent price ($250). I'm going to be doing some gaming, so I'm worried about ghosting... then again since I've got an x1900xtx on the way, I almost feel like I'm wasting it by not picking up a monitor that can do 1600x1200. I'm not interested in widescreen.

Bestbuy is nice. They recently dropped mail in rebates for instant rebates.. I was looking at the same LG you were, but they were sold out. I spent a little more and got the monitor in my sig. For anything highend like that, I would personally purchase locally. After dealing with rma with newegg I find that its a lot easier to just drive and return the item. The savings on newegg/ other etailers aren't worth the headache.
