Where to buy a Laptop ?

I'm looking to buy a laptop. I'm in LA on vacation, and I come from Denmark (and in Peace). It would be great if it had some sort of International Warranty. I would buy a Dell if they didn't have a weeks delivering-time, but they do, so I really would like to buy one at a store (no delivery, I pick it up).

Any suggestions as to where to buy it, and what to buy ?

I would like:
- Core-Duo
- 1GB ram (DDR2)
- Graphics-card better that Intel GMA950
- 15'4" screen (pref. without shiny layer)
- DVD-recorder

You could go to a Dell store, they have 29 locations in California. Go to www.dell.com/mall for locations.

I dont know if you can get the same deals as online but if you can, then a E1505 would be a great deal and has everything you are looking for.

Correct. Dell doesn't have real stores, more just info-booths with salespeople. Everything is delivered from the warehouse.

International warranty will be a bit difficult. If you can find a place that sells Acer notebooks, Acer is pretty popular in Europe and you can probably get support for it there.

Best Buy has a warranty plan for laptops they sell that claims international coverage, where they reimburse you for repairs up to the cost of the laptop; probly more of a PITA than its worth though.

Lenovo Thinkpads can be purchased in Office Depot stores (and eventually Best Buy I believe), and you can probably purchase an international warranty from them.

Dell told me that if I buy the 3y warranty, it covers my country to. And it's actually still cheaper to buy here 🙂

In case someone finds themselves in the same situation as me, this is what information I got from Dell Denmark.

1. If I buy a Dell in USA, I have to make a TAG Transfer when I get back to Denmark. The warranty will then be valid, no matter which warranty I bought from Dell USA.

2. I can get a new keyboard + power charger (I don't know the price yet, but it is possible).
