Anybody know of a place that is offering these motherboards? newegg.com had the 7dxr but its gone now. There are also a couple of other places on pricewatch that have the 7dxr for $200.

I've never seen the + at newegg only the non-raid one. Are either axion or spartan good companies? I've never really heard of either?

Newegg has a great deal on the non-raid. I don't know how High quality the onboard raid is, you gguys mught want to consider applying the 40 dollar savings toward a RAID card....

PCI raid solutions don't spin down the drives, it's annoying as hell. I was hoping the onboard raid solutions are at least power savings friendly.

Nothing like 4 spinning hard drives in the living room to piss off the gf.

If I ever go RAID, it will be a separate card. Doesn't the Promise fasttrak ATA100 Raid controller spin down the drives?

Yeah, my confusion about raid is that average speeds only go from about 33M to 41M per second, now that is a nice increase, but worth another $40 for the raid feature, the second hard drive and so on when I don't even care how fast it reads, only writes, which doesn't increase much, right?

The fasttrak100 tx on a 66mhz pci bus transfers 200m per second in a 0+1 configuration, which was my plan up until I learned the thing doesn't spin down.

I don't really care about speed increase as much as data failure.

From another thread regarding the same subject-

First Post-
Epox 8K7A+
Available through Epox On-Line (tigerdirect) for $179.99.

---
Of course replies about TigerDirect being less than good (agree with but...)
---

Second Post-
Never said TigerDirect was any good! ;) Just that if you want this motherboard right now, it's the place to get it. According to Epox they have stock and Epox is helping on the freight. Next Day was $16 or so when I contacted them.

The gateway server deal that everyone's raving about has 2 66mhz pci slots. The fasttrak100 tx is 66mhz, and a 0/1 configuration has a claimed speed of 200m per sec.
