I want to buy an ATV but I am having a hard time locating one. Im on craigslist now and so far there is nothing. I know of a site called powersportsnetwork, but im not sure if the site is just a place to host (like craigslist) or an actual middle man (like ebay). My requirments are:
Clutch
BARE minimum 350cc, but I would prefer 400 - 450
Reverse
Working Lights
Brakes
4 tires that arent dead

Does anyone know of a place that has four wheelers/dirt bikes for sale (used)?

Look in convenience stores for free local classified-type ad papers, and used car ad papers.

are you in a rural area?

i always see at least one or two on the front lawn with 'FOR SALE' signs driving around the farm roads.

Simple answer:

http://www.quadhunter.com/

Just looked at a local 2009 Honda Rincon 650 for $3800 on Thursday. I'm guessing the guy would have taken 32-3300 for it just to get rid of it. Also saw a cherry Honda 300EX for 2k .... I'm too old for sport quads. After riding my Polaris Sportsman 700, I never had an interest in a sport quad again.

where do you live? In some places like indiana there are times where 4 wheelers are crazy hard to find used because people use them year round.

When I shopped 4-wheelers for the kids last year, I had quite the sticker-shock. How did every trailer-living redneck in my home town have 3 of them in their front yards?

Theres plenty of dealerships which have them in addition to regular cars. Some places specialize.
Look around. If the price of gas doesnt bother you, make a road trip to find such places.

Motorcycle dealerships frequently carry them. Never seen them at a car dealership.

They had used 4 wheelers at the ATV dealership when I lived back in GA. Of course, even then (almost 20 years ago) I thought their prices were pretty high.

ATV's are usually listed in the "RV" section on craigslist, not in the motorcycle section. Also, don't buy a Chinese knock-off, as you will regret it when you need to repair it 2 years from now and can't find parts.

Same in KY.
Except most don't "use" them as much as they play with them.

LOL!
Yeah, around here, some live in $400 trailers & drive $200 cars, but have at least one, usually 2 or more, $5000 4 wheelers!
Some use them for hunting, but for most, it's somewhat of a "status symbol".D:

Personally, I have a Polaris Sportsman, 500. One only!
I use it on the farm, sometimes ride out to the mailbox , but that is the extent. no "playing" around or driving up & down the road.

If I bought another quad it's what I would buy.
Had a Can Am dirt bike in the 70s. That sucker was crazy fast.

The Outlander/Renegade 1000's are crazy fast. I can't believe people mod them to try to get even more power out of them, there is no need.

I really don't recommend a computer nerd get into a sport like ATV.

What will most likely happen is on your first outing you will flip the vehicle and get crushed.
