I had an el' cheapo 32" tv (brand is "ilo") that is perfect what what I need (just to watch an occasional tv show) that was broken in a recent move. I went to good ol' walmart in search of another, and it seems they don't sell them anymore? Best buy, circuit city, nothin. I think this thing was about $300. To get an lcd at this size is lookin about $700. Have these things really been completely phased out?

Thanks,

Dave

yeah, only small tv's are still CRT made. Like 20" tv's. Just get a plasma for twice the price, it's well worth it, is it not?

Good thing they got rid of CRTs before they gave them a bad name before their retirement (manufacturers making them like disposable lighters). Wish they still made some inexpensive HD CRT sets.

Craigslist. I recently sold a 27" for $25. Of course it depends on what sort of quality you're after. A newer flat CRT with progressive scan and component inputs might cost significantly more, but you still won't need to pay more than $150 or so. Also, remember to haggle. People on CL seem totally oblivious of the real world and often base their asking price on how much they originally paid, even though that has absolutely nothing to do with the current value of what they're selling.

Smallish LCD TVs aren't too expensive either. A 19" should be $250-$350 depending on if you can find a good deal someplace. And my 32" LCD I got for only $450.

Just a comment on "iLO."
iLO is a brand fully owned by Walmart. It's (or at least it was, if it isn't any more) their house electronics brand.

Nobody else carries (or has ever carried any iLO branded products) for that reason.

That said, I bought an iLO 26 inch LCD a few years ago and never had any issues.

You might check Sears. My parents just bought a 27" Sony Wega there for about $300. It also has a digital tuner.

Ick, I wouldn't do that. For maybe $100 more, if that, you could get an LCD of the same size that wouldn't require two people to move.
