Yet in a very intense graphics game like Nascar Racing 4, both ran about the same 38fps with high details, D3D.
Tried another basic 32bit 3d game, Links 2001, and both performed and looked about the same.

Have seen the same thing here. (no significant fps gain when comparing GF3 and GF4 4400) I was dissappointed at first, but
after a little poking around (articles and the like....) I found that NR4 is one of the most CPU intensive games out right now. To
satisfy myself, I messed around with processor speeds and did see a corresponding fps change in the game.... This led me to believe
that NR4 is CPU limited on my setup.... not Video limited as I would have guessed.

HOWEVER, I did notice that I could up the antialiasing with the 4400 and get significant gains in picture quality without any significant
fps loss (still talking about NR4 here). So there is a gain with the 4400 over the GF3.

(yeah, I know none of this is groundbreaking news.... just thought it was interesting)

I got in the 6800s.
GF4Ti4200 (315/540) 29.42 drivers
P3-850@952 112mhz FSB
Win XP

I'm pretty satisfied with my score, I know its my CPU/FSB that is really holding me back. My card would run at 315/560 rock solid, but there were too many visual artifacts during 3dmark2001se for me to be satisfied with it. I'm hesitant to try to up my fsb to 124, but I'll probably give it a go later tonight to see if it will run stable.

So it seems 3dm2k1se is designed to give higher marks for specific features manufacturers incorporate for the sole
I agree as well Rob, but you have to compare "systems" like yours to see how they compare to really get the benefit out of 3dmarks.
If another system that has very similar components as yours is getting 1000 more 3dmarks than you, then there's something that he's doing with his settings that you're not and maybe you could be playing the new great game better without upgrading.

Here's a question for people on a new system build.
My friend just made an AMD 1800+, with MSI GF4 Ti4400, with 512Megs PC2700 Samsung ram on an Asus A7S333 (sis 745 chipset).
He's getting 7100 3dmarks on 3dMark2001 SE with everything at stock speed. I thought it was low and that he should be getting around 8500-9000. Could it be some setting in the video or the chipset on the mobo or what? I was wondering what would be holding him back.

I was wondering what would be holding him back.
make sure the bios settings are on optimal/highest and see if he can run his memory at faster timings (cas 2, etc...) i've found that tweaking the bios and memory can really increase system performance and 3d mark!

11111 :D

System and 3D Mark linked below. I was only a few hundred away from 11K so I put my FSB up until it went over. I'm sure I could go farther, I just don't feel the need...yet. :)

You can check the specs in the sig in more detail, but in short terms is a Athlon XP @ 1875, Radeon 8500 300/300, 512mb Kingmax DDR333, Epox 8K3A.

6694 3d Marks

Though, its full of artifacts (only in 3d mark), it runs very stable.

Not so bad for a 1219mhz Athlon, Ti200, with 512mb SDR.

AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.13@1219 (8.5x143)
Ti200 @ 240/544 with 29.42 drivers
Generic 512MB SDR
Abit KT7A v1.3
Windows XP

Here is 6232.

Runs stable, no artifacts with all the eye candy turned on.
Same rig as above, but Ti200 @ 200/544

You choose which you want to compare.

I'd say not so bad, I could use a faster CPU though.
