Id' lower the top mantle of the fireplace. I'm not exactly sure why you have that big blank spot of trim, but with the space removing that would save, you could put the tv up there no problem...

HOWEVER... I would not want to use a fireplace with a tv like that on top of it.... way too much heat.

I'd go with a tilt mount above the fireplace. And get some curtains for the windows to cut down on the glare/light bleed.

not if the garage is the first floor

There's 3 bedrooms/2 bath, kitchen, living room, dining room upstairs. 2 car garage+storage, 1br/1ba downstairs.

Pretty common for a split foyer design.

I'd personally mount it over the fireplace. If your's is like the last two houses I've had...it never gets used. It's just a wasted wall that otherwise could have a couch or entertainment center along it.

I want to know why these things are even put in. Know one I know ever uses them, including myself.

When I had an apartment with a fireplace, I used it.

Ok, let me rephrase.

With 2 houses AND an apartment/condo that had a fireplace, it was nothing more than wasted wall space.

I forgot about the apartment we rented for a year that had one.

:p

Did your house come with the walls and trim painted that color? We just bought a house and it the walls are the same exact color!!!! Same carpet too, but we picked that.

yeah.. it's not a horrible color - kind of bland, but eh.. I like it. The next major thing I want to do is replace the carpet with bamboo hardwood flooring from costco
