Where should I move to?

Kinda tired of Georgia. I was considering moving back to Atlanta after I graduate but I spent 18 years in a suburb. Places I'm considering:

• West Coast (San Diego up to Seattle)
• NYC
• Boston
• Maryland
• Dallas (Only because I have a job offer)
• Charlotte? It's still the south...
• Indianapolis - I've been told it's a solid place to live
• Rochester, New York
• Chicago
• Philadelphia
• Raleigh, North Carolina
• Denver? (This would be tough. They beat the Falcons a while back)

Work I'm hoping for:

• SAP BI
• SAP HANA
• Hadoop
• Splunk
• Hunk Splunk

Work that I'm certified for:

• SAP ERP

A strong healthcare / pharmaceutical area would be nice since my girlfriend is getting her degree in that with a hint of SAP ERP / BI experience.

I'm hoping to live and work in the city since I've been in the middle of nowhere Georgia for a good bit.

As you know... The more hipster the better. Even though I don't fall into the category of "Hipster" I do enjoy the atmosphere.

Any suggestions would be great,

Boston's a great city, as far as cities go (I've become more of a suburban/rural guy, personally). Look into the Jamaica Plain area. It's where all the hipsters are gathering these days. It's great for tech jobs and the like. If you want an idea of rent, let this map be your guide (it only covers a little of JP, but should give you an idea of most of the rest of the city).

I liked Chicago. Look for companies that have multiple metropolitan or even global locations. That will make it easier to move within the company to another city.

Healthcare and Biotech is huge in Boston/Cambridge. You'll find plenty of work here. We currently use SAP B1 at the Pharma I'm at but I'm advocating to upgrade.

That sounds promising. I have little SAP B1 experience. I've been exposed to it but that was in class 2 years ago. I'm better suited for SAP ERP / ECC and Business Objects. Currently taking a class on HANA, and R which has sparked my interest.

if you come to maryland just keep in mind we have the shittiest drivers in the world here. i always hear everyone say florida drivers are bad, but i was down in the keys for a week and the drivers down there were fine compared to up here. as soon as i got back i missed the drivers down there.

if you wanna do dev work there is tons and tons of it around here though. i'm right around the dc area. definitely seen hadoop stuff being thrown around a lot.

To be honest I love data but I haven't had any formal training on Hadoop. I'm just replicating our HANA assignments / project in a Hadoop installation at home.

Philly is really a great city. I've lived in the area my whole life and it has a certain charm that can't be denied. The only downside to working and/or living in the city is the wage tax. IIRC it's something like 3.5% if you live outside the city limits and 3.9% if you live inside the limits. Takes a chunk out of your paycheck. Philly also has some really terrible tax laws for businesses, but that wouldn't be your concern.

Incorrect. Seattle is a terrible place for a hipster. Portland is an actual hipster paradise. Portlandia is close as it gets to a documentary of Portland.

NYC is definitely for the hipster (and everything else). It is the exact opposite of the middle of nowhere and I guarantee if that's what you want you will love it. Expensive as hell, but top pay. I'd imagine they have tons of pharma ERP jobs... and plenty of everything else too.
