Where should I go to look for a futon?

I'm looking for something cheap to use as a couch in my new townhouse. When I get settled, and have more cash coming in I'll get a real living room set, and move the futon to the computer room.

Any ideas?

There have to be furniture stores around your area. Unless you want to replace your futon fairly often, I would not get a cheap futon from Walmart or Target.

In my room at my parents house (doubels as a hang-out room for me and my friends) I have a futon and got it for $200, marked down on clearance. It's a really nice one, and normally went for about $450-$500. Supported me for 2 years strong so far, and I'm a pretty big guy for a futon. (6'1 250)

Me and the gf went to a few earlier today. They are mostly $400-500. There are a couple for $250, but aren't that comfortable. If we don't find better I guess that's what I"m getting.

I did find a two foot tall air bed with an electric pump yesterday.

We have the classic college futon from walmart for 100 bucks. The futons at furnature stores cost around 200-300 depending on if you get a wood frame or metal frame.

I got a metal frame for free from a friend. If you're near a college, just drive around campus when school lets out in a week. You'll find plenty of those crappy black metal frames

I went to a store that sold beds and other bed-like furnature (it was called Bed & Bunk... but I don't think it's a chain) and got a 10" foam matress for it for $150 (much better than the 6" that comes with most futons).

I'd like a wood frame one.

I have so much stuff to by since I've never really done this before. I still need a microwave, vaccum, some sort of entertainment stand, lamps, washer, dryer, who knows what else.

I'd like a grill too, but that can wait until I have the basic neccessities taken care of.

Cheapo frames will work fine, but you might want to try a mattress store for a good pad thingy.

I haven't seen a B&M where I can get just a frame. Do mattress stores sell frames too? I didn't think of going there.

I'm ok with getting wooden furniture used.. tables and chairs. But cloth furniture seems sketchy. It'd be easy to clean wood, but fabric?

yeah..who knows. it could have been a cum rag for many years. thats why i only keep it aorund for guests.
