Food options seem a bit lacking today. There are some big chains like Applebees or TGI Fridays which are out. On the positive side I do have some coupons for White Castle

Sorry, but my experience eating at White Castle puts it on par with McDonald's and not worth eating at.
5 guys is fine if you want a lot of french fries but not a lot of burger.
It was a toss up between Chinese and Thai, so I picked Thai.

I love a good burger and fries but if you got a good thai place......

Steal your coworker(s') food from the break room. Bonus points if you choose a container that has their name written on it.

Ok Thai food place wins. Will report back with pictures

Why would I want to eat the same thing I eat the other 4 days a week?

😵
The Five Guys burgers have always been pretty hefty when I've gone.
Man, has the price for the burgers gone up since they opened here though, IIRC it was about five bucks in ~2011, now it's closer to eight.

Unless it's a terrible, terrible Thai place there is no way in hell any burger, however godly, is going to compete!
There are some good burger places that can compete pretty well even with good thai places.

There's a burger place in town by me that gets the seasoning just right with the burgers, they get the buns from a local bakery, and serve some excellent duck fat fries. To top it all off, they make their own ice cream and have the best milkshakes I have ever had the joy of experiencing. Did I mention that their wings are great too?

That said, white castle is not what you think of when burgers come to mind.
Normally, most places will cook burgers on a flat top, or over flame or coals. White Castle steams them. It results in a very different flavor and texture profile. To me, they are sublime, but, I'd agree, not as interesting as thai food.

A burger place is selling (primarily) one type of food (a meat patty in a bun) compared to a restaurant that's selling a massive variety of food from a country with a rich tradition of cooking.

Got the Satay and something called Int. Fried Rice with Chicken - Hot. I was intrigued the inclusion of yellow curry, thai seasoning and chili, and pineapples as I'm not sure I've seen those three together in a dish before.

Sadly everything was surprisingly bland and not spicy at all. The peanut sauce was a bit watery. It wasn't bad but Yelp's 3.5 was much closer to accurate than Google's 4.4 IMO

Order Kaeng pa. Ask for it Thai hot.

I never ask for anything Thai hot unless I've been there before given the huge variation in spice levels. This place's Hot was like a Mild from a place near home.

I get what you are saying. And when you talk about most burger places, you are talking about fast food type places, which are more about convenience, cheap prices, and fast service than about interesting or complex flavors. I do agree in principle, but, just saying that there are always exceptions. I guess I am always a bit of a contrarian or, maybe just an ass.

lol that looks horribad

Its hard to screw up chicken and rice so it was edible but pretty disappointing overall.

Bummer. I've had bland Satay and horrible peanut sauce as well. All the restaurants probably get their peanut sauce from the same source these days.
