It was brought up to piss of the wingnut homophobes, and it worked.;)
Wingnut homophobes are going to vote for bush/cheney no matter what.

Conjur: Who said I was outraged? I just said what I would say. Cheney probably wasn't real happy with Keyes either.
They interviewed Cheney on the local news after the debate. He was not pleased.
That was obvious in his response to Edwards the other night.

And he was visibly not pleased during a local news interview tonight. Last debate they had edwards live for reaction - this time they had cheney live for reaction.

Is there an echo in here?

F...ing murdering donkey is killing our troops in Iraq and we're all wound up about outing the outed (and out) Cheney's daughter.

Can you spell STUUUUUUUPID! Lets see if we can generate a non issue.
Everyone watch the metamorphasis of the composed insightful moonbeam into a spittle-chinned leftie. It's fascinating.

Totally out of touch with moderate, "undecided" voters.

Naturally. I was taught to get a mules attention with a 2X4. :D I just couldn't believe the great Allsurmise would get wound up so tight over nothing or would bring up such a trivial point. I sorta thought for a sec there I was smelling desperation or a complete lack of wins for Bush on real issues.

Meh, first read of conjur's post was that he didn't catch the tonight live part. Upon further review he may have caught it. Anyway, I added the "equal time" with edwards portion so it wasn't a total loss. :)

The only way you can feel it's a "low blow" is because you somehow associte the idea of homosexuality as negative. Something that shouldn't be of public domain and you dont talk about it.... "oh no his daugher is a lesbian".
Could be a very clever catch-22 of a low blow. The administration has the choice of complaining about it and acknowledging that America at large isn't as accepting as we claim to be or to say nothing and possibly lose a vote or two...

Either way...dude, you're so gay.

It's not a flame unless you're a homophobe ;)

[Edit] Quite obviously just kidding

Not at all. It's simply inappropriately personal. It was transparently intended to embarass the opposition on a personal issue of no relevance to the Presidency. It's in the same vein as their attacks on Clinton for a private sex act. Both were wrong.

Like I said before, I would expect that kind of trash from Bush. Kerry should hold himself to a higher standard.

If the Cheney's are ok with having a gay daughter and the daughter is OK about being gay, how is this some personal issue. All I saw was Kerry saying it was ok by him. There is absolutely nothing to hide. Kerry also complimented Bush on his wife. My how personal. There is nothing wrong with being gay and nothing to hide or avoid in 'polite conversation'.

How was that a "low blow?" It amazes me how this country tries to create an "equal" society, yet when a minority is mentioned for who she is, it is "offensive." It's not like Kerry used it in a derogatory way, he said after that we all are "God's children" no matter what the preference of sexuality is.

"Calling out" Cheney is a roundabout way of saying "You're a hypocrite."

The moderator asked Bush if he thought homosexuality was a choice or not. He didn't answer, "Yes it's a choice (and therefore immoral)" or "No, they have no control over it (so we should leave them the hell alone.)"

Kerry simply gave option #3 which was, "Who gives a sh1t either way, they are our children. Period. Why are you being so judgmental?"

Missed that...... I wasted time trying to make the same point.

FWIW - Link, mentioned in this thread.
Dick Cheney and his wife say they are angry at John Kerry for invoking their lesbian daughter during the final presidential debate. Kerry says he was just trying to say something nice about how the Cheneys have dealt with the issue and meant no offense.

Temperatures have risen sharply since the vice presidential debate, just last week, when Democrat Sen. John Edwards mentioned Mary Cheney and the Republican vice president thanked him for his "kind words."

This time, a back-and-forth ensued that had the vice president's wife, Lynne Cheney, accusing Sen. Kerry of a "cheap and tawdry political trick" and Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Kerry's running mate, suggesting Mrs. Cheney was ashamed of her daughter....

its only a low-blow if you believe that people knowing about it will hurt him/them.
