Where is the job demand?

What computer-related field will the jobs be from now through the next few years? I went to the Dept. of Labor and read that Systems Analyst, Computer Programmers, and Data Administration would be, but, what else might be in demand?

If I had to pick a hot job in the IT/IS world in the next 5 years, I would put all my money on Info Security. I don't need to say why, because it's already painfully obvious. If you want to have a priceless skill-set, charge after info/systems security.

Ha ha ha. Their statistics is 5 years old, no wonder they said those skills would be in demand--they are in demand to bring dept. of labor back to today.

Those jobs are still in demand within the field.

You need the correct specialized experience within each group.

I hear that there are plenty of jobs there, and if you work your way up to Project Manager you might be able to make $10K a year.

It's all about bioinformatics. HUGE demand for people who know their software and know a thing or two about biology. But even if you don't know too much biology, there are still many jobs to be found provided you're as good as you say you are on your resume. 😉

Yep, with so many workers looking for jobs, the required experience level has been raised. When I was looking a few months ago, practically every employer wanted at least 5+ years experience in a certain set of skills. Some even more. I saw very few 1+, 2+, 3+ years experience job postings.

My money is on security and design. Why? Because they require you to know your stuff, fakes are easier to spot in those two fields than anywhere. Security because bad security is quickly compromised and design because the end result should look like what the client wants. Also, both require IN-HOUSE talent as opposed to being outsourceable.

I heard from a person in a senior management position in a very large company suggesting database technologies as being in great need.

Well, looks like security and design,.......one thing's for sure, if you don't know your stuff, you won't last long! I remember the days when you could just put it on your resume, and, shazam, you got the job, and, kept it! The good o'l days 🙁 are gone.
