When does it start?
Right when the windows xp black booting screen shows up

Does it ever stop?
No, but it has like a split second stop when its loading alot or when i scroll the bar on the side of a window really fast

Computer setup:
K7N2G-ILSR - Newegg refurb... this is my current guess of the problem but i do not know where
Barton 2500+ - Newegg refurb... don't think this could make sqeek sound can it?
AX-7 - Good cooling.. couldn't be this probably // Uses a SVC fan but i've used this in my old rig and it work fine
GF4 Albatron Medusa 128mb - Not this i think.. finger stoped fan and still sqeeking
32x Verbatim CDRW - unpluged, still sqeek present
2x Maxtor 30gb - New from store... unplugged these and there was still sqeeks
WD 1200JB - Unplugged and still sqeeking
Fans - I finger stoped all the fans execpt CPU but still noise... shouldn't be this anyways because the sqeek only starts right when Windows XP starts to load...

so... where is it coming from? I think it is the motherboard, but could it make this sound?

Any other thoughts before i send the mobo back to newegg for an RMA?

Or an alarm on the board warning you your CPU is about to burn out, or the voltage is really screwed up, something like that. I'd suggest unplugging everything except the CPU, CPU heatsink/fan, and memory.

You said the squeaking happens even with the hard drive unplugged, so obviously it's not happening only when the WinXP black screen comes up.

One more thing: don't create any more threads about this. Replying to an existing thread will move it back to the top of the thread list where it will be seen by anyone interested in responding. Posting a new thread 3 weeks after your first one was responded too is also pretty silly.

hmmmm... it seems to start when it has Nvidia Boot Agent loaded.... this would have to be the motherboard problem... i have bios at default so it couldn't be a cooling or voltage matter...

are the wires plugged into teh mb correctly (the power button, reset, speaker etc) if so does it operate normally, try unpluggin everything since it doesnt sqeak during post go into bios settings nad let it si there for a min, dont haev te HD's or cdrom plugged in, because if the squeak starts only at teh boot screen my guess would be HD related. however if it squeks with nothing but esentals plugged in im guess someting with proc, ram, mb or vid

I've got to ask again. If the squeak still occurs even with no hard drives plugged in, how could it have anything to do with the OS or any other agents loading?

I switched off from the 2 raids to the 1 WD... both had sqeeks occur...

I know the WD works perfectly from before and the 2 on raid are brand New...

For heavens sake can't you take the side of the case off and use a straw or something like a stethoscope and isolate the noise? It is simple to do. If a person shouts at you can you tell where it is coming from? If you can do this you can surely find out where the noise is coming from.
