Hey guys,

I've got to reset my BIOS so I'm looking for the CMOS-Battery or the Jumper but I can't find it. Does any of you can give me a description or, evene better, a picture? The manual could be nice, too. I'm thankful for everything that could help. The mainboard is a KHBL2 01 with Intel PM45 chip.

Thanks!

I couldn't find any good references to the model number you provided. If you want to find the manual, either from your own searches or from someone here, give us the manufacturer.

The jumper on the motherboard that clears the CMOS essentially shorts the data retention pin to ground. You can accomplish the same thing by removing the battery a using a small screwdriver or other metal object to short across the battery terminals for 10 - 20 seconds.

The CMOS battery for a laptop motherboard is usually on the motherboard itself and it depends sometimes depending on the manufacturer's methods. There is no jumper for laptops as it is not the kind of thing to have in a laptop as it sticks out from the motherboard.

Here is the manual but do take precautions while disassembling laptops though. I find it easier to disassemble a gaming laptops than a cheap laptop with easy to break plastic parts if not careful. :hmm:

Thanks for your answers.

The mainboard is produced by Pro-Star as far as I could find out. But I didn't find any manual that says where I can find the CMOS-Battery or the Jumper.

The main problem is by the way: My network-card and the soundcard fell into "deep sleep mode" caused my a heavy system error. I'm just trying to wake them up and the most popular way seems to be resetting BIOS by removing the jumper or the CMOS-battery. Maybe you have some other ideas?

Is this board in a pre-built computer? If so, what brand?

Where are you located?

OK, doing a bit of googling, it appears that you've posted this in a couple of places...but you didn't tell us...this is a laptop.

Their website isn't much help. No manuals available.

Your best bet will be to contact them directly.

Most likely you will have to take the risk of opening up the laptop to find the CMOS battery. It has to be on the motherboard somewhere but like I said, the location of the battery varies from one manufacturer to another.

I'm from Germany. The brand is called "DevilTech", but the ProStar KHLB2 02 looks just the same as my laptop. Here are the some more details:

If that's your laptop, here's the company's site. Clicking the Support link at the top of the page, and from there, I clicked the Driver Download link and clicked your model number, KHLB2.

The first item under your model is the manual. That should (no guarantee) include the info you need. While you're there, you may want to download the latest drivers for you machine, as well. :)
