And how is that Gigabyte card offering you the best deal. A dual 6600gt that is bottlenecked by the 2x 128bit bus' and the 2x 128mb ram.

They do not combined since they are two different cores.

The card is around 500-600$ including the gigabyte board. It is also only compatible with a gigabyte sli board.

Even if it doesn't, i don't think he would want to buy it. You really pay for the performance there! :)

What I meant on the post before is even if a SLI 6600GT is not better than 850PE, it is pretty expensive and you pay a lot for the high performance it gives.

That's true that 3DMark does not pertain to real world gaming but dosen't that have any influence on performance at all?

Its true that 3dmark03 influences performance, but in this case, No.

2x6600gt vs X850xtpe = X850xtpe wins. In possibly almost every benchmark but doom 3.

Why not DOOM3? I thought ATI kicked nVIDIA's *** in Doom 3.

I can't wait until ATI comes out with their Multi-Rendering.

It is an enhanced SLI where you can use two different modeled cards and work them in parallel.

Example would be X800XT + X700XT + multi-rendering = kick ass performance

Bleh I am not getting anywhere in this thread.

I will go back to what I was doing before.

My last comments dual 6600gt's in an sli setup do not outperform a x850xtpe

and that is my final answer to what you were saying in the first page of this thread.

And with nVidia's driver support falling even farther than ATi each release, even that could change.

Have you updated all your drivers? made sure there are no older drivers interfereing with the new ones?

Also do you have a sound card? enabling eax and such can cause stuttering in the simplest of games. Try updating those drivers also.

Half Life 2 had a stuttering problem after a certain patch that came out. Maybe your game is outdated?

I have no ideas on this and im sorry for extending this thread with the useless posts I made before.

Try the things above mentioned :D

Thanks for the replies. The drivers I am using are the NVIDIA 66.93's. I do have 1GB of RAM. Hopefully that is enough. I am probably gonna try a different set of drivers. Anyone here have a very good experience with any particular driver for Half-Life 2 specifically?
