What in the absolute fuck are you talking about?

China is, BY FAR, the most butthurt, insecure international snowflake on the globe - their furious, brat like reactions to what they deem disrespectful or insulting is the stuff of modern day diplomatic legend. They stamp out criticism ahead of important CCP summits or milestones, they don't ignore it, never have. It's a matter of face. How you've missed all that is a mystery to me.

Fact is, with a few exceptions, pretty much the entire world is sick and tired of China's belligerent fits, threats and bullying.

Some light reading for you

It does not matter how angry Beijing APPEARS to react. No country or corporation seems willing to stop doing business with China.

Are you certain you are reacting to actual reality or are just peeved at me for rightly calling out some immature Progressives for:

1) more than 10% of them angrily voting for Trump in 2016 because they raged Hillary won the Dem nod. There was no way Bernie could have caught up anyway in the vote totals.

2) embarking on a sustained campaign to seize control of the Democratic Party and failing miserably

3) holding the Infrastructure bill hostage for nearly three months until they got their way on BBB

4) constantly hurling childish epithets towards anyone's way who disagrees with them

5) labeling older ones who opposed "Defund the Police" as self-defeating and grimaced at the silliest tactics of Progressives such as chasing Sen. Sinema into a bathroom, "Boomer" while conveniently ignoring Bernie Sander is 80 years old

I said long ago Bernie could never win a national election and I was right. He simply does not come across as a believable leader and his use of "Socialism" rankles many.

You can get as angry as you want.

It is amazing how quickly many of you explode into rage.

Good point? Dems needs to come out vocally across the board on this… this way the GQP will have a losing hand when they come out 100% opposite.
They will still find a way to justify yet another flip-flop. Remember the Soviet Union and Russia.

Maybe as part of BBB we should announce a public-private partnership to build a new semi-conductor factory ala TSMC in the US. Put it in one of the coal states that will lose that revenue long term because of climate changes.

Would send a big F.U. to China and it's something needed worldwide.

People of all nationality/color disappeared in China rich or poor, it is decades late for the world to fight back but better late than never.

Most significant to me in all of this is whether or not individual athletes are willing to sacrifice all of their relentless hard work at preparing themselves for the games in order to support a moral and ethical dilemma that's tinged with political ideology.

That's more confirmation than we needed, but I appreciate you confirming my suspicions on you not knowing wtf you're talking about. The little proggie/dem rant was a nice detour too, nothing like some irrelevant backpedaling off topic to really put some English on that fail. Psst, your bias is showing.

You can get as angry as you want.

It is amazing how quickly many of you explode into rage.

Another comment on your lack of fluency here; you're confusing tired apathy over low information historians, with rage. Very original. I really have little patience for posers, like others here, so if you don't want to get called out for posting ignorant drivel, that sounds like something you can influence. Throw that straw as much as you like, but ranting about Hillary or your dreaded proggies does not an argument make, certainly doesn't explain you knowing jack shit about the CCP's diplomatic history and culture.

Edit: anyone in the State Department reading your posts has your reaction as well, trust me

Kage, I actually DO know what I'm talking about. China is practically immune to threats, tweets and boycotts.

The leadership of China ignores everybody because they know they can.

You are thinking as a Westerner. China's planners think long-term. And they've got you just where they wanted you: Dependent on them. Or scared of them.

About 70% to 80% of the wares sold in Walmart are imported from China. How much does the U.S. owe to China?

If you are talking about going to war, are you supremely confident the U.S. Navy with a little help from Britain, can overwhelm the "Little Emperors" who man Chinese naval ships and who perceive themselves as the future leaders of the world?

More importantly, are any of your relatives going to be in harm's way?

And I have been definitely right about Bernie and some of his more demented supporters.

The Dems could have passed the Infrastructure bill weeks ago. If not for the howls of the Progressives. What's in the BBB is needed and in fact, is really not enough. But to undermine the entire party in a peeve of juvenile rage... that is just stupid.

As always, it took skillful maneuvering, negotiating and placating by Speaker Pelosi and a disappointing realization on the part of Progressives to understand that old Rolling Stones ditty: "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

Once it was whittled down to the satisfaction of most, the BBB was passed in the House.

I am hoping against hope it will pass the Senate.

Not nearly as much as the US owes to its own citizens.
Besides, if I own the back a thousand dollars, that's my problem. If I owe the bank a hundred million dollars, that's the bank's problem.
In other words, china gets screwed if the US defaults on its loan obligations.

You may be right but losing the Olympics would be a BFD to them, worldwide humiliation. If the athletes got together they can force China's hand.

*unrelated domestic blather snipped for brevity*

I see no evidence of this claim, sorry. Gotta tell you too, adding more straw and slinging some false attribution to me is a piss poor substitute for supporting what I quoted.

You don't seem at all interested in actually substantiating your claims (we both know why) I noticed, you're back to 'preaching to the choir' over something unrelated to what I quoted.

It's almost like you don't comprehend this thread is about Peng Shuai and the CCP. Spew some more about Bernie troll, not like you had any credibility to begin with right?

I doubt much will become of this; you'll have a few athletes individually opt out but it's not like tennis players can withdraw from the winter games. There's a lot of solidarity in pro tennis, because the players basically travel the world in packs.

The only thing that will derail the games would be COVID, and that is more likely to come from outside China than from within. They're still adhering to a zero COVID strategy.

I gotta say, I admire the WTA for at least standing up to China in ways the NBA wouldn’t dare dream of.

The NBA has significantly more revenue from China than the WTA could ever dream of.

The U.S. could (and probably will eventually) deflate the dollar, but I don't know how we can selectively default on Treasury bonds held by a specific country. It would be incredibly foolish to default on our public debt, which is why Republicans want to do it every year or so.

China has tied its Yuan currency to the U.S. dollar which is why it purchased so many U.S. Treasury Bonds. This tends to keep the costs of its exports down, according to some.

But most economic experts estimate China owns only about 5% or less of total U.S. debt. That is not a lot, approximately $1.1 trillion at the end of 2020, depending upon what website you're on or which global financial guru is pontificating.

No one knows what will happen if the U.S. decides to just not pay China. But why would the U.S. do any of this over a lone gymnast?

That is the question that needs answering. Unless you are discussing going to war.

So a ranked Chinese tennis player once had an affair with a former Vice Premier high up in the Party. Not sure of their history, but at some time after the affair ended, she was at his house for a tennis lesson (even met the wife) but afterwards she claims she was raped. She publicly accuses her attacker on Chinese social media, and pretty soon afterwards she disappears and her posts are scrubbed.

Now everyone wants to know, where is Peng Shuai? Even Biden sees an opportunity to play tough guy with China and seems to be calling for a boycott of the Olympics. Should athletes pull out of the Winter Games until we know that she’s safe?
Fake news. it was consensual, and she has not "disappeared".

He's not right. He's completely wrong.

The only two sentences he could manage that weren't weak strawmen and actually applied to my quote were: "It does not matter how angry Beijing APPEARS to react. No country or corporation seems willing to stop doing business with China. "

Both are categorically false, and if he is even moderately informed about modern day China he knows this. If he had any integrity he would admit his error and move on (though probably blame a Bernie Bro, apparently).

Let's set aside the hilarity of dismissing the appearances given by a population and economy that size. A study by the UBS Evidence Lab found that a staggering 76% of US companies with factories in China were in the process of or considering moving operations to other countries in 2020. Ever hear of Yahoo? How about Nike? Apple? Zoom? The Czech Republic and Lithuania don't give a shit what butthurt Beijing thinks about their relationships with Taiwan - they know a thing or two about being taken over by belligerent communists. Quite predictably, party members are shitting furious bricks countries so small aren't following their instructions from Beijing.

And you are correct, worldwide humiliation is a BFD deal to them. They enforce censorship in other countries, anyone who thinks they simply DGAF is as delusional as, well, the guy you're responding to really.

Props to the WTA. Seems 1/3 of their revenue comes from their presence in China. Unlike the NBA who bowed to financial pressure the WTA is standing up for right and wrong. Too bad more don't take the hint.

On a lighter note this is the guy who she accused of assault. I've never seen a shittier toupee.
