*sell* your old HW and buy new HW ... you don't *pay* $400 for a new video card ... you sell your old card to *defray* expenses ... a 640 GTS is about $300 ... and i *know* you get more than $100 for your 1900xtx
... so a $200 net upgrade ...

or you *could* add a second x1900 for xfire for cheap ... or go for the $500 GTX

at least you have *options* with your PC

you could even play with 1:1 pixel scaling and STALKER woould run fine

i thought your were good with math 😛

STALKER is a GREAT fps ... under-appreciated because of performance and bug issues

Yeah I was the one that bought the monitor that threw my rig out of whack. But it makes my Xbox360 games soooo much more enjoyable.

When PC gaming gives me a reason to upgrade my rig, then I will do so. Until then, there is no way you're going to convince me that STALKER is a good reason for me to drop $800 on my PC.

but there there is Crysis for PC ... Alan Wake ... Quake ET for the multi ... Bioshock ... and DOZENS of games slated for next year

Every game I play on my 1080p TV is using the native 1080i signal coming from the Xbox360 and is deinterlaced by the TV. Taking it from 1080i@60 and making it 1080p@30.

That is unless the game is 1080P native, like GRAW2.

I am not looking forward to Halo 3 at all.

I am looking forward to Crysis, Alan Wake, Conan, and maybe a few others. GoW will come along for windows someday... I heard that it would be along shortly after the release of UT3 but I kinda doubt it.

here's a better question: why do we need graphic whore games? someone in software bashed starcraft 2 solely because of its graphics (hell, a gamespy preview did too). starcraft1 looks like $hit relative to DoW and CoH, yet it's still the premier RTS. that says something about its GAMEPLAY, not its graphics 🙂

30fps average is NOT the same as 30fps solid. when it's average 30fps it means you probably get 10fps for a few frames.

Stalker has a crap storyline though. At least GoW has somewhat of a story that you can follow and kinda get into...

Becides, I don't really care what games people like. I liked Halo2, but it's commonplace to bash the hell out of it for stupid reasons. At least people still talk about it after over 2 years...that means something.

How do I have a comprehension issue when you never told anyone your actual fps. You said 30+fps which does not ever denote a solid 30fps.

halo won't hold a candle to PC fps. unfortunalty most good PC fps are also on the xb360. especcially the great UT3.

So much of this discussion on graphics is so petty. Gears of War a jaggy mess? Oblivion for PC the best looking game ever (or close to that effect)? There's no middle ground with some people; it's ATI vs Nvidia all over again with the influx of HD consoles.

IMO Gears of War looks great [just beat it on Casual - now I'm going to be playing it through on Hardcore].

Starcraft 2 has me more pumped for a PC release than anything since Far Cry. I was stoked for Crysis last year, but after it missed the christmas release (badly), I'm much less excited for that game.

Frankly people jumping up and down for Oblivion and Lost Planet on PC reminds me of Mac users wetting themselves for the scraps of the PC table.

So much of this discussion on graphics is so petty. Gears of War a jaggy mess? Oblivion for PC the best looking game ever (or close to that effect)? There's no middle ground with some people; it's ATI vs Nvidia all over again with the influx of HD consoles.

IMO Gears of War looks great [just beat it on Casual - now I'm going to be playing it through on Hardcore].

Starcraft 2 has me more pumped for a PC release than anything since Far Cry. I was stoked for Crysis last year, but after it missed the christmas release (badly), I'm much less excited for that game.

Frankly people jumping up and down for Oblivion and Lost Planet on PC reminds me of Mac users wetting themselves for the scraps of the PC table.

Yeah I know what you mean. I was always a console gamer first and games never looked as good as what was on the PC. Now the tables have turned and to be honest, console games seem to be moving up in the graphics department faster than PC games. Probably because the cost of a gamer to get a high end PC is alot more than a Console. Then you have to deal with multiple video card types etc. In the eyes of many PC gaming is almost dead. Those of us who spent upwards of $1000 to play the latest games don't want to believe this, but I can definately say that there is more to enjoy on consoles lately than on my PC.

I still never beat GoW, I got stuck on one part with low ammo and nowhere to run to...a deathtrap so to speak. I'd have to retrace my steps for over an hour and I don't want to 😛.
