I installed win98 on C disk and win2000 on D disk. The reboot for multisystem works fine. But I could not find the boot.ini file which is said to be under C:\. I want to reset the default waiting for selection time from 30 sec to 10 sec. But I just could not find this file(by using search function in win2000). Where and how could I find it? Is this the only way to modify the default waiting time for making the selection? Thanks a lot.

It is hidden in the root of C:. Set exporer to view hidden files. or go to DOS at c:\ and do attrib -h -s -r and it'll be there. When done editing it or whatever, do attrib +h +s +r to set it back as hidden, system, read-only.

The proper way to edit the default wait is by right-clicking your "My Computer" icon in Win2000, choose properties, Advanced, then hit the Startup and Recovery button and choose it from there.

You can change it inside Windows 2000 if you want.

Right click My Computer and click properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click Startup and Recovery.
You should see it on the screen.

well, another thing to add here is that the only way to edit what your boot selections are is by the boot.ini.

For instance, mine said:
1) Windows 2000 Professional
2) Microsoft Windows

What i wanted was to say:
2) Windows Millenium Edition

so i had to edit the boot.ini.

anyways, the EASIEST way I know to get to the boot.ini is simply to goto start->run: and type in:
c:\boot.ini

and voila. no need to mess with hidden and system file views. how'd that for ease? ;)
