The term Rapture is based on some scriptures about the end of the world.

Some of these talk about how 2 women will be working and one will be taken and will will not. I really think it refers to that concept that not all who pray Lord, Lord will return to live with him in Heaven. There is also verses that mention they will go where the Eagles Reside. Some have this idea that the chosen will fly up as a spirit into the sky. Care must be taken when reading the Bible to know the difference between a metaphorical reference and a literal reference. Often the Term Eagle refers to the valiant followers of Christ. In Roman Times the Eagle was a symbol of royalty and power.

Look in Mathew Chapter 24 as a start:

29 ¶ Immediately after the tribulation of those adays shall the bsun be cdarkened?, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the asign? of the Son of man in bheaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth cmourn?, and they shall see the dSon of man coming in the clouds of heaven with epower and great fglory.

31 And he shall send his aangels with a great sound of a btrumpet?, and they shall gather together his celect? from the four winds, from one end of dheaven? to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the afig? tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that ait? is near, even at the bdoors?.

34 Verily I say unto you, This ageneration? shall not pass, till all these bthings? be cfulfilled?.

35 Heaven and earth shall apass? away, but my bwords? shall not cpass? away.

36 ¶ But of that aday? and bhour knoweth no man, no, not the cangels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of aNoe? were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the aflood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 ¶ aWatch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be abroken? up.

44 Therefore be ye also aready: for in such an bhour? cas? ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a afaithful? and bwise? cservant?, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that aservant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord adelayeth? his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

This is Luke 17:

33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall alose his life shall preserve it.

34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

37 aAnd? they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Who's to say the Rapture hasn't already occurred and we're the leftover remnants of the non-believers?

For almost 2 thousand years the Bible and the references to scripture contained no reference to a 'Rapture'.

Only after Moody brought forth his interpretation, and Scofield wrote his own version of the Bible to expound on Moody's viewpoint,
and Schofield founded his own core groups of followers to spread his viewpoint did it even exist.

Fundamentalist Evangelicals were founded on false doctrine by a snake oil salesman.
Pay attention to Scofields past and history before he founded his sect.

Large homes for all classes with a separate room and bed for everyone is a modern phenomenon. At the time that passage was written, the average family lived 10 people to a 1 or 2 room (total rooms, not bedrooms) house measuring maybe 500 square feet, if that.

Many conservative Christians believe in what is called a "pre-Tribulation rapture", meaning that Christians will suddenly be taken away without warning, and the 7-year Tribulation period will follow that. Tim LaHay's Left Behind books are based on this interpretation.

There are many others who think that Christians will be taken away AFTER the Tribulation, and some believe at the half-way point. This "post-Tribulation rapture" was the commonly held belief up until around 200 years ago. In all actuality it is a non-issue at the moment, simply because Christians agree that it doesn't really affect how you should be living your life now.

Without getting into any sword fights. I am ready for the "blessed hope" (titus 2:13) to happen at any moment.

The second half of the tribulation is judgement. Those who have put their trust Jesus, and have asked Him to come into their heart and to be a part of their life, will have nothing to fear because Jesus already took the judgement that was meant for those people.

So we will either be kept safe until Jesus comes back, or we will be taken away until the tribulation is over with. It doesn't really matter, either way, the people in Christ will be cared for.

One last thought. Not everyone who say they are a Christian, are really Christian. there are alot of false teachers and preachers out there, just like the bible warned us. Just because someone has a tv show and an expensive hairpiece doesn't make them right. God will show His own people what is going on, and will comfort us.

True Christians are almost holding their breath in anticipation of suddenly being swept away from this horror that life on Earth has become in the preceding 100 years

The reason most the people in the above statement will be surprisingly shocked when they end up smoked ham, and miss that big day, is what I call my "the burning building" theory.

That is, the whole idea of religion is to do good and spread the word. These people, in the statement above, are actually selfish and making GOD really po-ed.

They shouldn?t be concerned as to when the "Rapture" is or will be. Thats why "no one knows the time or day".

Burning Building theory:
If you were in a large building, with a long hall with many rooms off the hall. And one main door at the one end, leading outside (exit). You're in a room at the far end of the building, away from the one main exit. You suddenly smell smoke and then see a huge fire about to break thru the ceiling. What would you do????

A. Run like hell to the exit, ending up safe outside. Then turning back to see all those other people still in the building go up on a massive fire ball.

B. Run like hell to the exit, BUT... as you pass each room you yell "fire, everyone out NOW".

The so called Rapture Christians would chose option "A", going by their feeling that the world is going to hell and the Rapture will get them out. Yea me, piss on you.

A "true" believer would chose "B". They would not know or care when the Rapture will be. Why, because they have way too much work to do making sure, as much as they can, that people hear the "word" and are not left behind. Relatives, a spouse, their kids, parents, neighbors and even co workers.

Look at it this way. In the Bible, after all are "gathered" for the judgment via "the book of life", those not in the book will be cast into hell. Can you imagine the horror when that book is closed, to realize your friend, your spouse, your son or daughter, even your neighbor's name is missing in the book? And the horror to see them cast away into hell?

This horror will be the most awful, terrible human experience that no one will be able to forget.
.......Proof?
If were talking the Bible, it also says after those are "cast into hell", those going to their Heavenly reward will be so horrified at the loss of their loved ones, that "it will take the hand of GOD (maybe it says the finger of GOD?) to wipe away the sorrow. THATS pretty devastating sorrow, that GOD himself/herself, has to step in to eliminate.

Soooo, why these "Rapture waiting Christians" are so excited the end is near, is to me in itself their DOOM!!!

Boy, will that be a kick in the head, for them, when they are the ones left behind....
