Where I can get the 8800GT/9600GT stock cooler?

I currently have an 8800GTS 512, but I really need the PCI slot that its gigantic heatsink is blocking. My understanding is that the PCB layout for 8800GT/9600GT and 8800GTS 512 are the same, so it seems like the stock single-slot heatsink from one of those should work adequately, perhaps with a minor clock speed reduction.

Does anyone know where I can get one of those heatsinks, or have a better plan for freeing my PCI slot?

Either buy another motherboard or downgrade to a 8800 GT. These are your only options. The stock 8800 GT cooler is not enough to cool the GTS and by reducing the GTS clocks, you just negate the point of buying it.

If you really wanted to I'm sure you can purchase a stock heatsink from someone that upgraded to aftermarket for their 9600gt/8800gt. Otherwise, your realistic options are 1) water cooling or 2) downgrade to single slot card.

I'm sure you can find someone willing to part with their 8800GT in trade :p

Wait, isn''t 8800gt better than a 9600gt?

yup

Well, that depends what you mean by better, as I'm lead to understand around here, and whether you mean the 512 or 256mb 8800GT...

If we could work out a deal I would be willing to part with my 9600GT OC for your 8800GTS, could throw in some cash as well. :)

Do you know of a micro-ATX 775 motherboard with 2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16 and 1 PCI-E x4 with extra space available next to PCI-E x16?

Ewwww, microatx?
Just Ewwwww.
Putting an 8800gts in a microatx is a bad idea.
Downgrading to 8800gt cooling to make it fit is a bad idea.

Good luck though.

There's barely room on a mATX for those slots, so there won't be extra space. If you are limited to mATX, you can think about getting a usb variant of one of your pci cards.
