Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm looking to buy or make a IR reciever for my computer for controlling DVD's and an MP3 application I coded.

I remember seeing a program that could decode the information from any IR reciever hooked to a serial port and let you decide what to do but I can't find it anymore. I'm fairly good at V.B. so making a little app to respond to the input from the reciever should be pretty easy (providing that I have the VB code to decode them).

Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know of a cheapish ready made setup?

Thanks,
Justin Sampson

Heh, you are in luck. Go take a look in the FS/FT forum, there is a guy who is selling remotes for Winamp, and supposedly it works for other media players as well. They are only 10 dollars, and do work (i have one, but have only used in Winamp.)

I got a remote with my infra 52x creative Cd-rom drive off ebay and I love it. Now I can lay in bed all day listening to music without getting up. I've seen some stuff in the hot deals section about remotes, do a search and check it out.
