Remember back in the day when there were actually hot deals to be found? I have spent the majority of the day today trying to find a deal on....something...ANYTHING. There just isn't anything good any more.

I want my old hot deals back please.

Thanks care,
rudeguy

back in the day everyone and their mother did not know about sites like slickdeals, gotapex, or the hot deals section on these forums, so they lasted a lot longer.

now a days the hot hot deals are over so quick because everyone scoops them up.

and it seems like there are way less price mistakes now a days and even if there are, the sites don't honor em.

Not an online deal, but a trip to the local music/media store got me The Godfather 1&2 on used Bluray for $12. Just lucky I guess.

Hot deals, they are still there to be found. It depends if the finder want to share the discovery. Lots of sour grapes complaining in the other 2 websites.

Paid $18.50+tax each from Staples. Of course YMMV.

In the old days - before the dot com bubble burst, there were idiots practically giving away stuff just to make a name for themselves. Heck, in many cases, they WERE giving away stuff. I remember getting a really nice scanner, a few minor computer parts, a bunch of "free after rebate" stuff, applying a coupon, and after the rebates came in, having made nearly $30 on a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff.

We had Dunkin Hines or Better Crocker (whoever makes hamburger helper) in the house for 2 years because of a grocery store deal. I even had to buy a big set of shelves for a storage closet just to hold all the stuff. Purchase 10 of their items, get a $25 gift certificate for your next shopping trip. Well, my next shopping trip was to purchase 10 more of their items... using that $25 gift certificate. On my second trip, I was like "whoa! I get another certificate?!!!" WoohooooO! See ya tomorrow! 10 more items for free... 10 more for free... 10 more for free..

Yep, deals are not as good as before and much more difficult to find. The best deal I've seen lately is the $19.99 Hitachi 1TB drive from MicroCenter in Yonkers, NY (only).

The early 2000's was huge for hot deals. Like DrPizza said, you could get stuff for free or better all the time. I miss that stuff, lol! :p

Bing Cashback (may it rest in peace) was a source of MANY great deals. With it's passing many great deals will have passed ...

I noticed this as well, I just in hot deals and slick deals and look at all the stuff posted and sort of go...this is a deal? Looks like a lot of stuff posted at regular price to me. Hell, most of the were just regular deals with BCB even before that passed.

I kind of thought that since the economy is in the crapper, companies aren't making enough money to pay for giving away shit. In other words, there are enough people buying the marked up crap to subsidize the hot deals anymore.

I remember back in the days when you could buy DVDs for 5-10 dollars when they were selling for 25-30 each.

I think companies have also learned alot more about online shopping since the early days.

Fixed their checkout systems so you can't combine coupons, made coupons limited, really know that a low price on the internet with all the hot deal forums can result in thousands of orders, etc.

Advance auto parts has 30-40 percent off coupons right now. That pretty good, but can;t use on engine oil.

Ther are deals just have to wait and not be as picky. Fatwallet
