Where has Microsoft hidden Skype for Desktop (Classic Skype for Windows)?

Can't seem to find it anymore on Skype.com.

It maybe wouldn't be SO bad to try out the Windows 10 Skype version, BUT, when I download it and run it, it tells me to go to the MS Store. Which requires an MS ID. Which is BS, I just want Skype for Windows Desktop.

WTF Microsoft!?!?!

The steps on how you can download and install the classic Skype for Windows desktop version are as follows:

  1. Go to the downloads page: https://www.skype.com/en/get-skype/
  2. Select Get classic Skype from the drop-down.
  3. In the small window, select Run to start downloading the app.

I hope this helps.

But it doesn't work anymore???

Yup, I couldn't find classic Skype yesterday on a Win10 box, so I think it's going the way of the dodo (at least for Win10 users). I just browsed for it now on my Win7 box and found it straight away.

I tried the drop-down box yesterday on the Win10 box and only had options for alternate OS's.

Build 17120 Stat\rt menu>Skype. It will be around for quite a while. Look for it in the major update in the next couple of weeks

Its dead. If you are that against MS ID then I would suggest getting off skype. Whatsapp seems popular.

It is in the Apps on Windows 10 Build 1709 (at least it is on my computer) .. But I did lose a couple of apps when Microsoft did the upgrade. The Camera is missing but can be accessed at the App Store (but no shortcut for it) .. And I needed to reinstall Candy Crush Saga App

Its dead.
