Where exactly IS core 1, 2, 3, 4 on a Q6600?

If the little arrow on the CPU is facing bottom left... where are the cores located?

12
34

or

13
24

Or some other less logical fashion?

Just a thought because I have a temp delta of 7C, and if I go to reseat the HSF and notice the thermal paste looks lacking/excessive on a certain spot, I might can relate that to the core that is running hotter than the rest.

Or I might can relate it to the logical assumption that gravity pulls down on my F7Pro, making for an ever-so-minor decrease in pressure at the top of where the HSF and IHS meet, and an increase at the bottom.

i thought it was 0 1 2 3?

doesnt matter but my guess would be the first 1

12
34 or...

41
32 like graph quadrants.

wowzer, lots of ignorance...

its 0 1 2 3 from left to right, left being the side with the notches. the cores are also slightly below the mid point, the top of the die is mostly cache.

Heh, thanks. I just assumed a square object would have a square layout of parts. Stupid Intel! =p

That's with IHS facing up, correct? So if you're lookin down at the IHS, with arrow at bottom left, it's 0123?

Pretend your cpu is inside your motherboard and its mounted inside the case

Excuse my sorry drawing

0 I------------
__I cache I
1 I------------
2 I------------
__I cache I
3 I------------

I knew AigoMorla would answer this when I saw the thread topic, and before I saw he'd posted the most recent.

I'm intrigued with the extra info, Aigo.

duckie u seriously need to go on water so you can play with tensions and mounts.

Also im scared to see what you could pull off by ducting a radiator.

I have a q6600 that I was having a 12C delta between 0 and 3. Now I have 8C between 0 and 4. I have a thermalright ultra 120 extreme.

The screws that came with it have been tightened all the way. They have springs on them that do not seem to be applying enough pressure as I can twist the heatsink and get it to move.

This thread has a pic showing the cores are like 0 1 2 3. Is this true?

This matches up with what aigomorla is saying, but disputes what JAG was saying. It should be 3210, if the arrow is in the bottom left.

EDIT: Ah, unless aigo is the one that's backward. =p

yeah i think i got it backwards... im gonna check my pm with Dtung. He's the one that taught me the tension thing.
